Bebe Rexha Rushed Off Stage After Phone Thrown at Her Head

Bebe Rexha had a Phone Thrown at Her Head

Pop singer and actress Beba Rexha, better known by her stage name Bebe Rexha, was rushed offstage after a fan pelted their cell phone at her during a concert Sunday night.

The incident occurred while she performed on the Rooftop of Pier 17 in New York City.

    The Incident

The New Jersey native performed in the Big Apple as part of her Best F’n Night of My Life tour, which is currently underway. According to police, 27-year-old Nicolas Malvagna threw the phone from the crowd and struck the singer in the head.

EMS was called to the scene and taken to a local hospital, where she was treated for her injuries.

Fans in attendance and online were enraged by the attack, with many arguing that celebrities don’t owe fans photos or selfies during shows.

At some concerts, fans throw their phones onstage, hoping to get an image or video of the artist. For example, Harry Styles and Mark Hoppus from Blink-182 have had phones thrown at them onstage.

    The Proof

A video of the incident was posted to Twitter by Alex Chavez, who attended the show. The clip shows a mobile phone emerging from the crowd and hitting Rexha in the face, causing her to grab her head and collapse to her knees while crew members rush out to help her.

The rest of the performance was canceled after the incident, and a rep for the singer later confirmed to Pop Crave that Rexha had been required to receive stitches.

    Bebe Rexha’s Tour

Rexha has been on the road since May and has five more shows left in Philadelphia, Washington DC, Atlanta, Orlando, and Houston.

The “I Don’t Wanna Grow Up” singer is nominated for a Grammy Award in the new artist category this year for her single “I’m Good (Blue),” which was included on her debut album Bebe earlier this year.

She was nominated in the same category for her collaboration with David Guetta, “Feel the Music,” at last year’s awards. She’s also won several Billboard music awards and has been on several Top 40 charts. Bebe’s next concert is set for Tuesday in Philadelphia.
