Atlanta Rapper T-Hood Killed in Georgia Home — Girlfriend Speaks Out Against Rumors

Atlanta’s music scene is mourning the loss of rapper Tevin Hood, better known as T-Hood, after he was fatally shot at his Georgia home on Friday, August 8. He was 33.

According to the Gwinnett County Police Department, officers responded to a residence on Lee Road around 7 p.m. after reports of gunfire. T-Hood was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. First responders administered aid before transporting him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police say one person was detained for questioning at the scene, but no arrests have been announced. The motive remains unclear.

T-Hood’s mother, Yulanda, confirmed her son’s death in a public statement, denying reports that a party was taking place at the home during the shooting.

Known for hits like “Ready 2 Go” and “Big Booty,” T-Hood built a loyal following in Atlanta’s Southern rap scene. His catalog also included fan favorites like “Perculator,” “Girls in the Party” and “6 Shades of Z.” Earlier this year, he took home the Trendsetter of the Year award at the Black Only Awards 2025.

Friends and collaborators say he was in the midst of a creative high. Producer Deedotwill, a close friend, wrote on Instagram, “We was just on the phone all day. I can’t believe you are gone. REST IN PEACE T-HOOD. I LOVE YOU BROTHER.”

In the hours after his death, tensions flared on social media. A woman identifying herself as T-Hood’s sister, Jayda Alanae, accused the rapper’s girlfriend, Kelsie Frost — daughter of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star Kirk Frost — of playing a role in the shooting.

The family’s allegations claim that after a dispute, Kelsie called her brothers, Kirk Frost Jr. and Ky Frost, who then allegedly confronted and shot T-Hood. They also questioned why emergency services weren’t called immediately and why the alleged shooter left the scene if it was self-defense.

Kelsie, 30, addressed the accusations in an emotional statement shared to her Instagram Stories.

“I can’t sit back and let this narrative being created go on. The love of my life is GONE. I don’t condone this in any way, shape, form or fashion. I am sick to my stomach. I don’t wish this on anyone.”

She denied calling her family for help, saying the only person she contacted was T-Hood’s mother. Kelsie also revealed that the rapper was still recovering from a prior shooting where he had been hit three times.

“I didn’t call a brother, I didn’t call anyone but HIS mother,” she wrote.

Police have not confirmed any link between members of the Frost family and the shooting. The investigation remains open, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.

In the wake of the tragedy, some members of the Frost family have limited comments on social media or made their accounts private. Meanwhile, fans continue to share memories and tributes online, honoring an artist whose life was cut far too short.
