Atlanta cops are stepping up their game to find two guys who got into a nasty fight at a gas station convenience store that ended with one dude getting shot up bad. It happened late at night, and now they’re asking folks around town for any tips that might help nail these suspects.
This whole mess kicked off right before midnight on November 30, 2025, at that spot on 1683 Lakewood Avenue SE down in Lakewood Heights. You know the kind of place pumps out front, snacks inside, and those coin-operated slot machines tucked in the corner that keep people hanging around.
A tweet from X.
The Atlanta Police Department put out this security video around December 8 or 9, pieced together from different cameras. It’s about 78 seconds long and shows the step-by-step of what went down, though they edited out the really gruesome parts.
Starts with a gray sedan rolling up outside. Two Black men in hoodies and masks jump out and head in. Some news spots like 11Alive called it a Nissan, but others said Mercedes-Benz – cops are just going with “dark gray sedan” for now, probably ’cause the lighting sucks or witnesses got mixed up.
Inside, they spot this guy by the slots and go straight for his gun. Big tussle breaks out, the victim puts up a fight, but then one of the attackers starts blasting away, hitting him a bunch of times. They hightail it out on foot, hop back in the car, and peel out.
Cameras outside catch the victim dropping, then some people help him into a car and rush him to Grady Memorial Hospital. No ambulance showed up – just a regular ride.
The guy’s an adult male, name not out there yet, and he got to the hospital in rough shape with multiple bullet wounds. As of today, December 10, no fresh word on how he’s doing, but 11Alive says he’s still getting treated. APD’s statement keeps it simple: transported to Grady, critical condition. Hospitals don’t spill much due to privacy stuff.
Cops released the video hoping someone recognizes these clowns. They’re dangling a $5,000 reward through Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta if your info leads to busts. Tips are anonymous, so no worries about blowback just call 404-577-TIPS if anything rings a bell.
No one’s in cuffs yet. The Aggravated Assault Unit’s on it, figuring it started as a grab for the gun or maybe a robbery gone wrong, but they’re not spilling motives.
Lakewood Heights has seen its share of this crap. Robberies at stores like this are up 15% from last year, based on APD numbers. There were a couple other shootings nearby in late November – one guy got clipped in the leg on the 24th, and another mess with multiple victims a few days after. But those aren’t connected to this.
Zoom out a bit: Atlanta’s shootings are down 21% this year, homicides dropped 30%, per the department’s reports on their site. Still, gas stations and corner stores are magnets for trouble – easy cash, open late, lots of people coming and going. Even back in 2022, cops in nearby Lilburn were warning about beefing up lights and patrols for spots like this.
Fingers crossed the video shakes loose some leads. In a city trying to get a handle on crime, sometimes it’s the neighbors who make the difference. I’ll keep an eye out for any updates.
