Apple has officially introduced the iPhone 16e, the budget and high-grade addition to its collection. With the objective of hitting the middle ground when it comes to affordability and high-grade features, the latest addition is being pitched against the iPhone SE. Starting from $599 for the United States market, the iPhone 16e will initiate pre-orders from the 21st of February, officially releasing on the 28th.
The iPhone 16e shares the clean, modern design like the iPhone 14. This features the 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, delivering bright color and dark contrast. This one forgoes the traditional Touch ID screen for Face ID, placed under the notch on the front screen. This one is made from aerospace-grade aluminum and features the added security and strength from the Ceramic Shield front cover.
Apple has also provided the iPhone 16e with the A18 chipset, the same high-power processor offered for the high-range iPhone 16 models. Accompanying the device is the presence of 8GB of RAM for seamless multi-tasking and operation. Storage is provided for 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. One of its highlights is the presence of Apple’s very own proprietary in-house 5G modem, the C1, for added efficiency by not including support for the millimeter-wave 5G.
The iPhone 16e features the 48MP Fusion camera with the capability for 2x telephoto zoom for high-resolution and detailed photography. Face ID is supported by the selfie camera and also facilitates high-quality selfies through AI-enhanced features. With up to 26 hours of video playback, the iPhone 16e has fantastic endurance. Having the added USB-C connector is also keeping up with the latest regulatory expectations, providing faster and more flexible charging. The iPhone is also IP68-certified, being dust-resistant, watertight, and resistant to splashing.
Additional Features
Apple Intelligence: AI features make photography, messaging, and support even better.
Satellite Features: Includes Emergency SOS, Roadside Assistance, Messages, and Find My via satellite.
Action Button: User configurable for instant access to essential functions.
iOS 18: Features the latest software pre-installed for the best possible user experience.
The iPhone 16e is the middle child, essentially bringing high-end capability for less. Unlike its more expensive counterparts, however, the iPhone 16e lacks MagSafe and ProMotion (120Hz screen refresh). In its stead, however, you will find all the features you require from the flagship.
Compared to its around $600-priced Android counterparts like Samsung Galaxy A-series and the Google Pixel 7a, the iPhone 16e is distinctive for its A18 chip, premium camera set, and extended support for the operating system.

Initial reactions from analysts suggest the iPhone 16e will gain popularity from those looking for a high-end iPhone priced reasonably. Analysts expect strong demand for its high-end A18 chip, high-resolution camera, and budget price.
While some will undoubtedly find the omission of MagSafe and the high-refresh screen annoying, Apple’s shift towards keeping the iPhone less expensive while not sacrificing its capability is all part of its grander strategy for expanding its marketplaces.
