Lil Wayne named Anita Baker as his first choice to perform at his wedding to fiancée Madi Cannon during an appearance on his podcast.
The 44-year-old rapper made the comment on the October 7 episode of The Joint Venture Show, which he co-hosts with Craig Carton. Asked by Carton who he would want singing at the ceremony, Wayne replied, “My first choice, of course, would be Miss Anita Baker.”
Wayne, whose full name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., added that he would not want to put pressure on the 68-year-old singer. “I heard that she’s getting a bit tired of performing and I wouldn’t want to stress her in any way,” he said. “So if not, then I’d go with Keith Sweat or Babyface.”
Carton suggested Baker’s classic “Sweet Love” as a possible song. Wayne deferred that decision entirely to Cannon, saying the choice would be up to his bride. The couple has not announced a wedding date.
Wayne confirmed the engagement in late September. In a video message shared on Instagram by fellow Hot Boys member B.G. on September 28, the rapper congratulated B.G. on his own engagement to Brooke Jones before turning the camera toward Cannon. “And I’m marrying this one— this is Madison,” he said. “This is my fiancée.”
Cannon, 23, stood behind him and offered her own congratulations. Wayne then joked that he would serve as best man at B.G.’s wedding and asked to be told the color scheme. B.G., whose full name is Christopher Noel Dorsey, captioned the post noting that his “lil Brodie” had given his blessings.
Cannon, also known online as Madi K, is a social media influencer and model from Kokomo, Indiana. She maintains a relatively low public profile beyond her Instagram account. The pair’s 21-year age difference has drawn public comment since their relationship first became known.
Reports of a possible engagement between Wayne and Cannon surfaced in May 2026. In early July, Wayne addressed the rumors directly in a video, stating they were not engaged and had decided to part ways. He described the relationship as a “beautiful thing” with an “amazing person” but said he did not want the pressures of his public life to become a burden on her.
The September video marked a clear change in status. Wayne has been married once before, to Antonia “Toya” Johnson from 2004 to 2006. The two share a daughter, Reginae Carter. He is also the father of three sons from other relationships.

Wayne’s comments about Baker and the alternative performers came roughly a week and a half after the engagement confirmation and just days after his 44th birthday on September 27. No further details about the wedding plans have been released.
