A Colombian streamer known as Piquiña set up a complete computer and monitor rig on a public street at night for a live broadcast when a motorcyclist approached in what appeared to be an attempted robbery, according to video circulating widely on social media.
The clip shows Piquiña seated in a gaming chair amid the equipment and lighting as the motorcyclist pulled close. Private security guards he had hired stepped in promptly, and the rider left the scene without taking anything. Piquiña remained in place, continued the stream and was seen laughing afterward.
The video, shared Tuesday by accounts including @therealbuni on X, has drawn more than 1.5 million views. In the post accompanying the footage, the sharer noted that the streamer had anticipated the risks of broadcasting outdoors with valuable gear and arranged for protection in advance.
Piquiña, a content creator from Cali also known as La Piquiña, has previously drawn attention for public stunts, including dressing in costume and distributing cash from a balcony in Cartagena. He maintains a following through social media and streaming platforms with videos that often feature everyday life and challenges in Colombia.
Street crime remains a frequent concern in Colombian cities, and creators who film outdoors have faced similar incidents in recent years. In this case the presence of the hired guards appears to have prevented any loss of equipment or harm, based on the circulating footage.
No official statements from police or further details on the location or the motorcyclist’s identity have been released as of Tuesday. The streamer has not issued a detailed public comment beyond what is visible in the live clip itself.
Viewers responding to the video praised the quick reaction of the security detail and pointed to the practical decision to hire protection for an exposed outdoor setup. Others used the moment to discuss differences in private security rules across Latin American countries.
The incident underscores the challenges content creators face when producing live material in public spaces where theft of electronics is common. Piquiña’s preparation allowed the broadcast to continue without interruption once the motorcyclist departed.
