NBA YoungBoy says he has no plans to move back to the United States.
In a new interview with Funny Marco for the Open Thoughts series, the 26-year-old rapper delivered a blunt response when asked whether he could picture himself living in America again. “Never in life. No,” he said. The conversation was filmed while YoungBoy was in South Korea, where he has been based in recent weeks after months of international travel that included stops in China, Norway, Belgium and France.
YoungBoy explained that the adjustment to life abroad has been easier than expected. He said he had long felt he never really had the chance to leave the environment he grew up in, and now that he is out, he has no problem staying away. “There’s nothing there for me,” he told Marco, aside from his children. He made clear that remaining financially secure enough for them to travel and spend time with him remains a priority.
The interview also touched on health and career plans. YoungBoy revealed that a doctor informed him the left side of his heart is swollen, a finding first noted while he was on tour. He continued performing without sharing the diagnosis at the time and said the condition has not fully resolved. Music is no longer his primary focus. When asked how many albums he still has left, he answered “one or two.” On touring, he was more definitive: one more run, then he is finished.
YoungBoy has already released two projects this year, Slime Cry and ML2. His documentary American YoungBoy also performed well at the box office. Around the same time as the interview, he held a private session in Seoul to introduce Urban Link 360, his official fan platform built on technology developed in Korea. The appearance suggests the South Korea stay involves more than personal downtime.
After years of legal restrictions that limited his ability to travel, YoungBoy is now using that freedom. His decision to step back from constant output and plant roots overseas marks a clear shift for an artist whose career was once defined by relentless releases.
