Drake has broken Michael Jackson’s record for the most No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 by a male solo artist.
The Canadian superstar’s new single “Janice STFU,” the lead track from his album ICEMAN, debuts at No. 1 on the Hot 100 chart dated May 30, 2026. The milestone, confirmed by Billboard on May 26, gives Drake his 14th career No. 1 on the chart, moving him past Jackson’s total of 13.
Drake had tied Jackson’s mark of 13 in 2023 with “First Person Sh**ter,” a song in which he notably referenced being “one away from Michael.”
Hours after the chart achievement was confirmed, Drake celebrated on Instagram with a post on his @champagnepapi account. The caption read:
The accompanying image featured an illustrated depiction of Michael Jackson wearing blue Iceman-style braids set against a snowy, arctic backdrop — a clear visual tie-in to the aesthetic of his new project.
The accomplishment caps what has already been a historic week for Drake. On May 15, he released a trilogy of albums — ICEMAN, Maid of Honour, and Habibti — which resulted in him occupying the entire top three positions on the Billboard 200, the first artist to achieve that feat since 1956. In total, he placed a record 42 songs on the latest Hot 100 chart.
“Janice STFU” also becomes the first rap song to reach No. 1 on the Hot 100 in over a year.
With 14 No. 1s, Drake now ties Rihanna and Taylor Swift for the fourth-most No. 1s among all artists in Hot 100 history. He trails only The Beatles (20) and Mariah Carey (19).
The new record has sparked the expected mix of celebration and debate across social media. While many fans and industry observers hailed the achievement as further proof of Drake’s commercial dominance and consistency, others noted the differences between chart performance in the streaming era versus the pre-digital landscape in which Jackson earned his 13 leaders.
Drake has long leveraged his blend of rapping and singing, combined with strategic release tactics and global streaming power, to maintain a dominant presence on Billboard’s charts. This latest feat further cements his status as one of the most successful artists in the history of the Hot 100.
