Drake knows how to make an album rollout feel like an event.
The superstar rapper transformed downtown Toronto into a real-life scavenger hunt on Tuesday (April 21), unveiling the release date for his forthcoming album Iceman through a massive ice installation that quickly became one of the internet’s most talked-about moments.
Set up near Bond Place Hotel, the towering glacier-blue sculpture reportedly contained a hidden clue tied to the project. Once word spread, fans and content creators rushed to the scene armed with hammers, torches and tools, chipping away at the melting structure in hopes of being the first to uncover what was inside.
That honor went to Toronto streamer Kishka, who broadcast the frenzy live to thousands of viewers. After climbing atop the sculpture and breaking through the ice, Kishka pulled out a blue bag marked with the phrase “Freeze the world.”
Inside was the big reveal: Iceman is scheduled to arrive on May 15.
The moment instantly sent social media into overdrive, but the spectacle didn’t end there. Encouraged by fellow streamer Adin Ross and others, Kishka headed straight to Drake’s Toronto mansion, known as The Embassy, where he opened the package live on stream and confirmed the date once again.
Drake reportedly watched the scene unfold from inside the house before briefly appearing at a window to greet the crowd and acknowledge the streamer.
Kishka was later rewarded with a bag of cash from Drake’s team, with online estimates ranging from several thousand dollars to much higher figures, though no official amount has been confirmed. He also reportedly received gifted Twitch subscriptions during the stream.
The live broadcast peaked at more than 30,000 viewers, adding another viral chapter to Drake’s long history of headline-making promotional campaigns.
While details surrounding Iceman remain under wraps, the album is expected to mark Drake’s ninth studio LP. If Tuesday’s icy reveal is any indication, the road to May 15 is only just getting started.
