Boosie Addresses Son Tootie’s Drug Use Amid Kodak Black Controversy

Boosie Badazz is speaking candidly about a personal family battle after a video surfaced online showing the Baton Rouge rapper discussing his son’s struggle with lean addiction.

In a recent interview, Boosie Badazz opened up about his son’s ongoing struggle with lean, acknowledging that the situation feels deeply personal. The Baton Rouge rapper explained that watching his son deal with substance dependence reminds him of the same patterns and lifestyle he once experienced earlier in his own career.

“I’m so sick of Tootie sippin’ lean,” Boosie says in the clip, explaining that he has confronted him about the habit multiple times. Despite his frustration, the rapper emphasizes that he continues to support his son and hopes he can overcome the addiction.

Boosie also acknowledged a personal connection to the issue, comparing Tootie’s struggle to his own experiences with substance use earlier in his life. “He just like I used to be,” the rapper says, adding that he’s praying his son eventually stops using lean.

The video quickly gained traction online and sparked widespread discussion among fans, particularly because of its timing. Just a day earlier, Boosie went viral for criticizing fellow rapper Kodak Black during a separate rant in which he alleged that Kodak had used cocaine during a past studio session. The contrast between the two moments prompted debate across social media about addiction, accountability and the pressures facing artists and their families.

Tootie Raww, whose real name is Torrence Hatch Jr., has been pursuing a rap career of his own in recent years. The young artist has collaborated with several Southern rappers and appeared on tracks including “Slide Then” alongside Memphis rapper Big Boogie in 2022.

His name has also surfaced in headlines outside of music. In September 2025, Tootie Raww was arrested in Atlanta following an incident in which authorities alleged he ran from police and faced weapons-related charges.

Boosie has previously hinted at concerns about his son’s drug use, describing the challenge of trying to intervene while also navigating the realities of family dynamics. In the newly circulating clip, the rapper’s tone is more reflective than confrontational, framing the issue as part of a difficult cycle he hopes can be broken.

The moment has also reignited broader conversations within hip-hop about lean and prescription drug misuse, substances that have long appeared in rap lyrics and culture but have increasingly been discussed in the context of addiction and health risks.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, opioid misuse affects millions of Americans each year, underscoring the wider public health challenges surrounding substances like codeine-based cough syrup, which is commonly used to make lean.
