Robert Morgenroth — president of Zara Brothers Travel and general manager of Mogul Vision, the team behind rising singer-songwriter D4vd — testified before a Los Angeles grand jury on Monday (Dec. 9), where prosecutors pressed him on why he did not contact authorities in the days surrounding the discovery of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
According to TMZ reports, Morgenroth spent the whole day in closed-door proceedings led by Deputy District Attorney Beth Silverman. During a brief break, he was overheard telling his attorney that Silverman was “very pushy on why I didn’t call the police,” adding, “I felt like I didn’t have the responsibility to do that, and just wanted to continue with the tour.”
It’s unclear which tour he was referring to, though D4vd had just launched his Withered World Tour in late summer. The remaining dates were canceled after Celeste’s remains were found in early September.
Rivas Hernandez’s death has remained one of the most closely watched cases of 2025, combining a missing-teen investigation with the fast-rising career of a Gen-Z artist whose music — including hits like “Here With Me” and “Romantic Homicide” — has generated billions of streams.
The 14-year-old was reported missing multiple times throughout 2024. On Sept. 8, 2025, her partially decomposed and dismembered remains were discovered inside the front trunk of a white Tesla Model 3 registered to David Anthony Burke, known professionally as D4vd.
The LAPD later confirmed the case is being handled as a homicide investigation. Autopsy findings remain under seal.
The Tesla had been abandoned for days, ticketed repeatedly, and eventually towed to an impound lot before employees made the discovery.
D4vd has been identified as a primary suspect, though he has not been arrested and has not participated in a formal interview with investigators, according to multiple outlets.
Morgenroth’s testimony marks a new chapter for prosecutors, who have spent recent weeks presenting evidence to the grand jury. Sources told media outlets that investigators are examining whether individuals inside the artist’s orbit failed to notify authorities or withheld information after the body was found.
Public scrutiny around the case intensified after reports surfaced of additional evidence — including photos and videos of D4vd with Celeste, their matching “Shhh…” tattoos, and data showing his late-night trip to a remote area in Santa Barbara County earlier in the year.
LAPD has also hinted at the possibility of a second individual who may have been involved after the teen’s death, though no additional suspects have been formally named.
D4vd, who broke through on TikTok in 2022 and later signed with Darkroom/Interscope Records, continued to dominate platforms even as the case unfolded. Google Trends listed him as the most-searched person globally earlier this month — a spike primarily driven by the investigation.
Before canceling his dates, he had been touring across North America and Europe in support of newer releases and viral catalog tracks.
The grand jury began hearing testimony in late November, with proceedings expected to continue as investigators present additional witness accounts. LAPD has declined to comment on a timeline for potential charges.
Meanwhile, community members in Lake Elsinore — Celeste’s hometown — continue to call for justice, with family and supporters holding vigils and urging the public not to let the case fade from view.
Officials say the investigation remains active and ongoing.
