A man has been arrested after allegedly stealing Beyoncé’s unreleased music and other personal items during a frightening car break-in that targeted her tour crew in Atlanta.
Police say Kelvin Evans, 43, was taken into custody after investigators linked him to a July 8 theft — just two days before the superstar kicked off her Cowboy Carter tour residency at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Evans is facing charges of entering an automobile with intent to commit theft, along with a parole violation.
The incident unfolded around 8:09 p.m. inside a parking garage on Krog Street, near the popular Krog Street Market. Beyoncé’s longtime choreographer, Christopher Grant, and one of her dancers, Diandre Blue, reported that someone had smashed the rear window of their rented black Jeep Wagoneer and taken off with two suitcases.
In a distressed 911 call obtained by police, Grant told dispatchers: “They have my computers, and it’s really, really important information in there. I work with someone who’s like, of a high status, and I really need… my computer and everything.”
According to the police report, the suitcases contained sensitive materials tied directly to Beyoncé’s career — including:
- Five thumb drives with unreleased and watermarked tracks
- Tour set lists
- Plans for future performance footage
- Two Apple laptops
- AirPods Max headphones
- Designer clothes and sunglasses
Grant also told officers he was transporting “personal sensitive information for the musician Beyoncé” and that critical hard drives for her upcoming Atlanta shows had been taken.
Detectives used Apple’s “Find My” tracking technology, Flock license-plate recognition cameras, garage surveillance footage, and fingerprint analysis to identify a suspect. The investigation pointed to Evans, who was seen leaving the scene with bags resembling the stolen items and later linked to a 2025 red Hyundai Elantra with Georgia plates.
A warrant was issued on July 14. On August 26, Evans was initially picked up by Hapeville police for a parole violation before being booked into Fulton County Jail on charges of entering an automobile with intent to commit theft. He is being held on a $20,000 bond.
Court records show Evans has a lengthy history of offenses dating back to 2002, including armed robbery, aggravated assault, and multiple vehicle-related thefts.
Despite the timing of the theft, Beyoncé performed all four scheduled shows in Atlanta—on July 10, 11, 13, and 14—without disruption, each to sold-out crowds.
However, investigators confirm the stolen hard drives and other belongings have not been recovered, leaving Beyoncé’s unreleased music and tour materials unaccounted for.
In an August interview with Don Lemon, Beyoncé’s father, Mathew Knowles, expressed frustration with the circumstances: “I don’t know anything other than what I’ve heard in the news, but I can tell you, Don, her choreographer had better be glad that I’m not still managing her because he would be in hot water!”
Evans remains behind bars as legal proceedings continue, while the whereabouts of Beyoncé’s stolen files remain a mystery.
