Weird as it seems, hip-hop and basketball don’t usually mix, but when they do, the results can be quite bizarre. The 2024 NBA playoff has caused a new strife relationship between rappers 50 Cent and Ja Rule. According to the speculations, the only reason the Knicks lost to the Indiana Pacers in game seven of the series is Ja Rule touching the NBA championship trophy.
50 Cent is no stranger to coming up with a quick line. He is the best in constant trolling, and this one was no different. He went further to imply that the Knicks had lost their game because Ja Rule had touched the coveted Larry O’Brien Trophy. A die-hard New York Knicks fan, Ja Rule was seen holding the trophy during a promotion of NBA. Of course, such an act could not be allowed to go unnoticed in the world of Fiddy.

“If You’re wondering why the Knicks couldn’t get the W, this is why. SMH who let this fool touch the trophy,” tweeted 50 Cent, reviving their 2000 feud. While they had called a truce back in 2011, the two started having a go at each other again in 2015 and have been at loggerheads since.
This is not the first time 50 Cent has trolled Ja Rule over the NBA playoffs. The duo has been in a clash that dates back almost two decades over various squabbles. Few days ago, Fiddy stated that Ja rules over the New York Knicks and has turned against the hometown team. “‘Oh s###, don’t bet on the Knicks to win this next game. This janky guy put his juju all on the team. Forget that, I’m betting my money on the Minnesota Timberwolves!'” 50 Cent tweeted about Ja on May 9. Ja Rule came back with shots fired a week later, noting that the Timberwolves were on a three-game skid to the Denver Nuggets.
“The Wolves ain’t won since this tweet!!! 50 u a fucking MUSH. Ant-Man [Anthony Edwards] stay away from this goofy, he’s a fed anyway,” tweeted Ja Rule.
However, these remain personal opinions and casual banters amongst the two. There is no scientific evidence that touching a trophy can have any effect on a match. It’s all fair and lovely in the world of sports and entertainment.
And then, the season-ending loss by the Knick’s has certainly set a new dimension for the feud that exists between 50 Cent and Ja Rule. Whether superstition or just plain pulling someone’s legs, the antics of these two go on their brink. And as basketball’s world gets more and more entwined with that of hip-hop, only time could tell what more chapters this feud may bring.
Whether you like 50 Cent, Ja Rule, or the New York Knicks, one thing remains the same: the sports world and entertainment, for that matter, remain with lots of drama. With 50 Cent and Ja Rule continuing this banter until God knows when, fans will have nothing but such moments on the courts and off the courts.
