MGM Grand Garden Arena is where the 64th Grammy Ceremony took place. It was dedicated to Taylor Hawkins, drummer of the American band Foo Fighters. He died at the age of 50-years -old on March 25. But other than that, the Grammys 2022 was filled with Latino pride. JBalvin performed, Bad Bunny was nominated as well as Ruben Blades, the late Vicente Fernandez, and more.
Here are the 5 Latino winners from last night’s Grammy Awards:
1. Bad Bunny
The Puerto Rican rapper wasn’t present to claim his award. In fact, he’s been traveling around the United States for his ‘El Ultimo Tour del Mundo’ tour. In fact, the tour ended on the same day as the Grammys 2022 ceremony. Moreover, Bad Bunny won the award in ‘Musica Urbana Album’ for his discography El Ultimo Tour del Mundo.
2. Ruben Blades
A veteran in Salsa, Ruben Blades won the award for Tropical Latin Album for his album Salswing. Having been honoree for this year’s Latin Grammys 2022, Blades is a trailblazer for those in the Latino community.
3. Juanes
Colombian musician Juan Esteban Aristzabaj Vazquez, better known as Juanes, won the award for Latin Rock or Alternative Album for his 2021 album Origen.
4. Alex Cuba
Cuban-Canadian singer and songwriter Alex Cuba won ther Latin Pop Award for his album Mendo which came out back in May 2021.
5. Vicente Fernandez
Receiving his posthumous award, Vicente Fernandez won the Regional Mexican Award for his album A mis 80’s. Vicente is also known as the King of Rancheras.
In addition to winning such a prestigious award, these musicians are part of a bigger more diverse group. They are the ones who are putting many Latino artists on the map.
