19-Year-Old Charged with Attempted Murder Following Jacksonville Airbnb Shooting

A 14-second video clip making waves on X captures the exact moment police apprehended 19-year-old Kenshawn Prentice after a brief standoff outside of a home in Northwest Jacksonville. The guy’s shirtless and barefoot, griping about not getting his shoes while officers slap the cuffs on him. This all ties in with his arrest on December 23, 2025, for a shooting that went down three days earlier at an Airbnb party where five young people got hurt.

The whole mess started around 3 a.m. on December 20 at this short-term rental on the 1200 block of Arlingwood Avenue in Jacksonville’s Arlington area. There were maybe 20 people hanging out when an argument between a couple of groups escalated fast. Shots rang out in the backyard, then moved inside the house. The victims ages 16 to 21 all had injuries that weren’t life-threatening: a 16-year-old kid shot in the back, a 20-year-old woman hit in the thigh, a 21-year-old woman with a wound to her arm, and two 21-year-old guys each taking a bullet to the leg. They all got rushed to nearby hospitals and should be okay.

It kicked off at that Saturday morning party, and Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) showed up right after the calls about gunfire came in. Detectives talked to witnesses, collected evidence, and pretty soon pinpointed Prentice as the guy responsible. By the 23rd, they had a warrant out for him on five counts of attempted murder one for each person shot plus a charge for having a gun despite a previous juvenile delinquency thing. JSO’s SWAT crew linked up with the U.S. Marshals Task Force and tracked him to a spot on Sibbald Road. They surrounded the place, and after a brief holdout, Prentice gave himself up without much fuss.

The clip that’s gone viral looks like it was shot from afar by a neighbor or someone passing by shows Prentice stepping out with his hands raised. Cops move in, get him on the ground, and cuff him. You can hear him say,

“Y’all not gonna let me put on shoes?”

Sounding pretty annoyed. Everything stays pretty calm; no big struggle once he’s down. The street’s packed with police cars, but the video doesn’t catch the whole standoff or whatever talks happened before. It just cuts off after the cuffs go on, so we miss him getting hauled off to jail.

Folks living nearby in Arlington are fed up, saying this is at least the third time violence has popped off at that same rental previous shootings, even a drive-by. One local chatted with the news about how these short-term spots throwing big bashes are making everyone nervous about safety. Airbnb put out a statement slamming the violence and reminding people they’ve had a worldwide ban on rowdy parties since 2020. They booted the guest’s account and are helping JSO with the probe. On a bigger picture, this is part of a growing headache with gun stuff at rental parties across the country similar incidents reported in Ohio, Columbia, and Atlanta just this year. It really highlights how tough it is for these platforms to keep unauthorized blowouts from turning chaotic.

Prentice is sitting in Duval County Jail right now, and remember, he’s innocent until a court says otherwise as the case plays out. JSO’s asking anyone with tips to hit them up at 904-630-0500. Let’s keep to the facts here guessing games don’t help anyone, especially in a neighborhood that’s already got its hands full with real gun violence issues.
