A 28-year-old Indian immigrant who was working hard to build a future in the United States was shot once in the back of the head at close range after delivering pizzas to a vacant apartment in North Philadelphia. Anshul Kuncha responded to what turned out to be a fake order placed around midnight on June 5, 2026, and was killed during an apparent robbery at the Raymond Rosen Homes complex on the 2300 block of Edgley Street in the Strawberry Mansion neighborhood. Police have charged 14-year-old Sincere Camps with murder, conspiracy, robbery inflicting serious bodily injury, violation of the Uniform Firearms Act, and related offenses. Camps is being held without bail at the Philadelphia Juvenile Justice Services Center and is scheduled to appear in court on July 21.
Anshul Kuncha came to the United States nearly four years ago from Gundlapochampally in Telangana’s Medchal-Malkajgiri district. He was pursuing a master’s degree in business administration at Temple University while balancing a full-time job with part-time weekend shifts delivering pizzas for Pete’s Pizza on Ridge Avenue. Friends and family described him as dedicated and focused on getting ahead financially to support his education and long-term goals. The incident unfolded late on June 4 into the early morning of June 5 when someone placed a fake order for three pizzas to a vacant unit at the Raymond Rosen Homes. Kuncha arrived at the location shortly after 12:30 a.m., carried the food inside as instructed, and was then shot in the back of the head at close range. Surveillance footage captured two individuals in dark clothing following him from his vehicle toward the vacant apartment. Officers later found three untouched pizza boxes inside the unit along with three spent shell casings on the ground near Kuncha’s body.
Responding officers discovered Kuncha lying unresponsive on the ground and bleeding heavily from the head wound. He was rushed to Temple University Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
