Singer Trey Songz Performs at a Concert
Trey Songz in trouble for performing at Aftermath, a venue in Columbus, Ohio. With 500 people in attendance, the concert violated the state’s pandemic guidelines.
Columbus City Attorney, Zach Klein could not believe that this was a citing for an event that occurred this year.
“I honestly thought that it was from 2019, that there was no way an establishment would act like that, during a pandemic that threatens our entire community, with utter disregard for public health standards,” Klein said to the Dispatch.
He added, “They’ve violated every law and norm in place to protect against COVID.”
Undercover OIU agents stood back and witnessed mingling on an overly crowded dance floor, bar area, and table sections. Trey Songz’ concert broke so many rules. According to reports by OIU agents, guests failed to social distance and both attendees and bartenders did not wear face masks. Attendees even shared bottles of alcohol across sections.
Ohio Experiences Raging Covid-19 Spread
In Ohio, COVID-19 continues to spread rapidly. NBC 4 reported that as of Monday, Dec. 7, a total of 484,297 positive cases of coronavirus in the Buckeye state. This includes 29, 569 hospitalizations and 7,022 deaths.
Ohio’s current curfew is 10 pm, which expires this week. In fact, Governor Mike DeWine decided to extend the mandate.
Trey Songz Had Covid Himself
Trey Songz previously reported that he himself battled COVID-19. He revealed his positive diagnosis on Instagram.
“Here with a very important message to let you know I tested positive for COVID-19,” he said according to the report. “I’ve taken many tests while protesting and doing food drives. I have a young son at home, so I get tested regularly. Unfortunately, this time it came back positive,” she said.
Officers cannot believe that an establishment would allow such an event to take place. A concert at that, especially during a raging pandemic. All parties’ consequences are yet to be revealed.
