Texas Family Calls Police After Masked Man in Joe Biden Mask Eats Banana on Doorstep

A Watauga family called police after a barefoot man in a Joe Biden mask and a “FREEDOM” T-shirt associated with the late political commentator Charlie Kirk appeared at their doorstep Sunday night, peeled a banana, and ate it in front of their Nest doorbell camera.

Watauga police responded to the suspicious activity report around 8:05 p.m. on Oct. 18 at a home on Pebblebrook Drive. Officers reviewed the video, searched the surrounding neighborhood, and determined no crime had been committed.

The footage, shared by homeowner Jessica Mancia, shows the unidentified man approaching the house, opening a jacket to reveal the T-shirt, interacting with the camera by running his fingers over it, and then eating the banana through the mask before walking away.

Only teenagers were home at the time, according to family members. Julian Mancia, who lives at the residence, described the moment the family became aware of the visitor. A family friend, Damian Torres, said the man “just did his little act and walked away like nothing happened.”

The family contacted police and waited to see if the person would try to enter the house. Officers were unable to locate him.

In a statement, the Watauga Police Department said: “Although the individual’s choice of attire and snack may have raised a few eyebrows, neither appears to have violated the law at this time. And while we can’t explain the costume, the banana, or the apparent political identity crisis, we can confirm that being bizarre is not, in itself, a criminal offense.”

The department noted it is aware of social media posts from other residents reporting similar sightings but has received no additional official reports. Police encouraged residents to continue reporting suspicious activity rather than confront individuals themselves, warning that behavior perceived as threatening can lead to dangerous confrontations.

“The Watauga Police Department takes these types of reports seriously, however, and we encourage residents to continue reporting suspicious activity, even when the circumstances are a little bananas,” the statement continued.

Mancia told local reporters the encounter felt demeaning and frightening for the family, even as some online observers speculated it was a prank. Torres noted the situation could have ended differently at another home in the area.

The man has not been identified, and no charges have been filed. Watauga is a suburb in Tarrant County, roughly 10 miles outside Fort Worth.
