Snoop Dogg and his folks are dealing with some heavy stuff right now their tiny granddaughter, Codi Dreaux Broadus, only 10 months old, passed on January 26, 2026. She’d been battling hard ever since she came into the world way too soon back in March 2025. Cori Broadus, Snoop’s daughter, shared the sad news on her Instagram, and it’s got fans and famous people alike pouring out condolences.
Little Codi’s start was rough from the jump. Born at just 25 weeks after an emergency C-section because Cori got hit with HELLP syndrome this nasty pregnancy thing that’s pretty rare, hitting maybe 0.5% to 0.9% of expecting moms. It messes with your blood cells, spikes liver enzymes, and drops platelet counts. Usually pops up late in pregnancy and can be deadly for both mom and kid.

Over here in the U.S., when HELLP syndrome hits, docs usually jump at the chance to get the baby out to save the mother. This is why Codi was born so early. Babies like this premature one have very slim chances of survival, only 50-70% in the best hospitals, but they have problems breathing, contracting infections, and underdeveloped organs. The NICU becomes their home, all wired up to machines.
Codi held on for over 300 days in the Southern California neonatal unit. Cori, only 26, was right there with her, calling her a “little warrior.” They got her home in early January 2026, but this happiness was short-lived, barely 20 days passed when everything turned upside down.
On the 31st, Cori posted a black-and-white shot of her cradling Codi on her Story, saying,
“Monday, I lost the love of my life. My Codi,”
With an angel wing. Then she added,
“Thank you for every prayer, every message, every ounce of love. God heard them all.”
Her dad, Wayne Deuce, shared his grief too:
“I know u at peace. Daddy will always love you.”
This ain’t the first gut punch for the family. In 2019, Snoop’s grandson Kai Love son of Corde Broadus passed at just 10 days from prematurity issues. Snoop, 54 now, has four kids with Shante: Corde (31), Cordell (28), Julian from before, and Cori.
Cori’s dealt with her own battles lupus since she was 6, and a stroke at 24 in January 2024. That probably made her pregnancy extra nerve-wracking for everyone.
Snoop kept it simple but real, posting a family pic with Cori and her bros, just a heart and praying hands. Cordell added,
“Lil sis, we got you forever.”
You can tell they’re tight-knit.
Online, people flooded in with support regular folks and celebs while respecting their space. Outlets like TMZ and E! stuck to the story without the drama. No official cause beyond the prematurity complications.
In the States, infant deaths sit at about 5.4 per 1,000 births, with prematurity causing 36% of them. For super early ones like Codi, long NICU stays are the norm, and outcomes swing wildly.
