Sadie Sink Gets Emotional About the Final Day of Stranger Things 5 Filming

Sadie Sink, best known for playing Max Mayfield in the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, recently revealed how she bid farewell to the show. When the cast shot the much-hyped last season, the fifth season, in December, Sink admitted she was so emotional—so much so she cried until her eyes became visibly puffy.

At an SXSW appearance in Austin, Texas, while she was there to promote her new film O’Dessa, Sink reminisced about her last day of shooting.

“I cried so much my eyes were so puffy—they’d never been this way,” she told The Hollywood Reporter.

“There are pretty humiliating photos of me just with these huge puffy eyes.”

Saying goodbye to Stranger Things was very difficult for Sink after eight years. The show transformed her life, making her a rising star to a familiar face in people’s living rooms. She referred to it as a “beautiful chapter” in her life when she was reflecting back at the experience. She expressed she was very grateful to be part of such a hit show.

In a bid to keep the memories alive, Sink took a few mementos with her when she left the production. Her most valued mementos are Max’s autographed Vans sneakers, Max’s Walkman, and his board. “I just needed to hold onto a little bit,” she said in a recent interview with The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. She joked how her house was a “small museum” of Stranger Things memorabilia. As Stranger Things season 5 is announced for release in the year 2025, fans cannot wait for the Hawkins saga to reach its conclusion.

The Duffer Brothers teased the final installment as being “big and epic,” with big-time action and highly emotional scenes. With the events of Season 4—when Max was left in a vulnerable state—fans are keen to learn how her storyline unfolds.

Sink, having still not viewed any of the last footage, shared her own excitement, declaring, “It’s going to be super emotional, so I’m ready to cry with everyone.”
