Roc Writah Is A Circle Of Talent!

Roc Writah proved in 2022 that he is more than just a rapper/song writer. It was a full circle moment to the goals he has been building towards since an adolescent. After releasing his biggest song to date Complaints and Complacency, and then performing only one show in front of his hometown; an announcement was made that Writah would be starting his own publishing company.
In August, his first novel would be published under Writah’s Touch Publishing Group. Damsel, Not Distressed is a dystopian literature about two teenagers caught between their rival families in a future world ran by a military that extinguishes religion. An interesting read and fresh idea, right? All versions of Damsel, Not Distressed are available now on Amazon.
A month after, he would make his directional debut, writing, and starring in the web series The Crib. A comedy-drama about two friends, caught in a bizarre love triangle, and witty scenarios. Full episodes of The Crib can be seen on YouTube.
Needless to say, this has been an uphill year for Roc Writah, and the artist seems to be honing in on as much creative spaces as possible. So what will the 28-year-old venture into next? Like the rest of us, we will be anticipating something bigger.
For the second year in a room and to start 2023 with a bang, as a New Years ritual, Writah’s Touch is back with “Circle of Writahs.” This year three artists are featured, Roc Writah, T Gawd, and Aalim. The freestyles are delivered over some of the greatest hip hop songs to ever come out (Outkast-Miss Jackson, Jay-Z-Hard Knock Life, Jadakiss-We Gonna Make It). Despite this generation of rappers being harshly criticized for lack of wordplay and bars, this cypher presents intricate flows and nostalgic feels.
Roc Writah goes for nearly three minutes in which he details personal relationships, trouble with past mentors, and coping with loss. “I’ve been doing these kinds of cyphers since 2014. It’s always an intimate setting, and with friends of mines. I use it as an end of the year wrap up to my year, and I invite other poets, spitters, to get theirs off as well.
This particular year I didn’t really release a lot of music, so it would be a disservice to my listeners, my day ones, to not bring it and pour my heart out and bring you inside for a little. I’m very private, but my art is for public consumption, and I value that. I value how far everything has come, and being able to grow in this space. It’s an intro for what’s to come.” -Roc Writah
