Quincy Jones’ Legacy: $500 Million Fortune Divided Among 7 Children

Legendary music producer Quincy Jones, who passed away on November 3, 2024, aged 91, left an astonishing wealth of $500 million. His enormous wealth will go to his seven children in equal shares; each gets around $71 million.

Quincy Jones was a giant in the music industry, having worked with the likes of Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, and Aretha Franklin. His production work on albums such as Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”-the best-selling album of all time along with “Off the Wall” and “Bad” cemented his status in music history. Quincy also produced the landmark charity single “We Are the World,” which raised tens of millions of dollars toward famine relief in Africa.

The death of Quincy has affected his family terribly. His children have been sharing touching tributes as they remember their legendary father. Rashida Jones, an award-winning actress and screenwriter, took to her Instagram page to pay a touching tribute to the late legend. She shared a baby photo of herself with her dad, describing him as a giant, an icon, and a loving father. Rashida even went as far as to say, “Daddy, it is my honor to be your daughter. Your love will live on and on.”

Jolie Jones Levine, Quincy’s eldest daughter, hailed him by sharing an Instagram story with a picture of her and Quincy at the piano. The family celebrated a private funeral, where all seven of his children, brother, and two sisters joined immediate family members. They will have the public memorial celebration of Quincy’s life, which will be announced later.

Quincy Jones gave so much love and was a caring father to his children. No matter how busy his schedule was, he always kept in touch and remained a part of his kids’ lives. The children of Quincy have spoken at large about the values instilled in them by their father: hard work, creativity, and being true to themselves. He is proud of the achievements of each of his children and supports each of their journeys.

The relationships he had with his children are as varied as the catalog of music he had, and each bond was so unique to each and every one of their children’s personalities and passions. His oldest, Jolie Jones Levine, loved his mentorship and remembered him for the guidance he extended in her artistic pursuits. In a touching tribute, she posted an image of young Jolie at a piano guided by Quincy, a symbol of lifelong encouragement for her creativity.

Quincy Jones III, commonly known as QD3, followed straight into his father’s footsteps by carving his niche as a music producer and director. Quincy also tended to view his son as somewhat of a creative partner, sharing his ideas with him and helping QD3 work his way around some traits of musicians that make the production of music so complicated.

Meanwhile, Rashida Jones found her father in endless support as she hewed her career path in acting and screenwriting, qualities many say mirrored Quincy’s versatility and dedication to the craft.

The youngest among Jones’ daughters was Kenya, who was quieter, just like her father, but equally strong. He would always find time for her amidst his busy schedules and inculcate the values of love and resilience in her. The children of Jones have spoken highly of the wisdom and love Quincy has brought into their lives throughout their careers and lives.

Some of the many notable financial legacies that Quincy provided for his family include an enormous estate centered around his favorite Bel-Air mansion. He bought it in 1972 and spent decades customizing it to fit Quincy’s style and taste. The mansion, which is now appraised for $25 million, would be his sanctuary where he would live out his remaining years surrounded by his family and the mementos from his legendary career.

The estate boasts five bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and walls lined with musical memorabilia showcasing what life was like living as a man who totally dedicated his time to the art of music.

Jones also held other properties, including real estate in Memphis, Tennessee, where he spent part of his early career. His estate’s significant holdings are not just investments but a living testament to his achievements, with each property capturing a piece of his journey.

With eight stacks of Grammy nominations and wins totaling 80 and 28, respectively, Quincy Jones certainly is one of the most awarded Grammy artists of all time. He made his presence known across genres, from Frank Sinatra to Ray Charles all the way to modern rappers such as Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. His legacy will live on through the wealth of inspiration he has bestowed upon current and future artists across the world.
