In a video posted by user @FearedBuck to X, formerly known as Twitter, this unidentified man stops people in the street and acts like he is looking for his account on TikTok with them. He surprises people when, instead of new followers, he deletes the entire application.

While some see him as a hero, others believe his actions are illegal. The debate has taken social media by storm, with divided opinions pouring in from all corners of the internet.

The mystery man, seemingly sure of his mission to remove TikTok from as many phones as possible, asks people in the video to open the app and search for his username, gaining their trust. He then does the opposite: he deletes TikTok and returns the phone.

Whether this was a social experiment, a prank, or an honest act of rebellion against the popular social media application, his antics have raised many questions about the legality and ethics of this kind of behavior.

Sylvester Franklin of Savannah, Georgia, ordered a drill and a pressure washer from AliExpress but got a printed photo of the drill and a single screw as replacements for the pressure washer. These incidents have left Franklin frustrated and warning other consumers about the potential pitfalls of international online purchases.

He bought two tools online from the most prevalent e-commerce website in order to upgrade the home tool set, but instead of sending a drill, he sent a picture of it, while he paid $22.47 for the pressure washer-a lone screw arrived in his hand.

“They sent me this,” Franklin said, holding up a printed image of a drill. “A picture is what they sent me. I paid $22.47 for a pressure washer, and this is what I get-a screw.”

Franklin has been attempting to get his refund from AliExpress since November and all those attempts have gone nowhere. He even tried using a chargeback request with his bank, that too didn’t work. “This is not good. This is real bad,” he lamented.

Despite what Franklin said was a bad experience he had, hopes it will serve as a cautionary tale from other online shoppers. “This picture may be worth a thousand words, but it is not the $40 bucks I paid”. Franklin added “Don’t scam nobody. When you spend your money you wanna get what you paid for.”

AliExpress is owned by Alibaba Group, China’s main e-commerce player that has long faced consumer complaints. The Office of the United States Trade Representative placed AliExpress on its “Notorious Markets for Counterfeiting and Piracy” list in 2021.

In similar vein, AliExpress has been complained about to the Georgia Consumer Protection Division. Of three such complaints it received in 2024, it heard cases on issues with the non-delivery of an item, the provision of a fake tracking number, and financial losses above $400. Refunds were obtained in such cases, although this took months of detailed processing.

Franklin’s case underlines the risks associated with online purchase, especially with international sites. He says that consumers have to research well about the seller and read reviews, besides testing the authenticity of the platform before making their purchases.

The experts recommend the following steps to be done by consumers who find themselves in similar trouble:

Approach customer support: First of all, one should approach the seller or customer service of the platform for a refund or resolution.

Chargeback: If the platform is not responsive, initiate a chargeback by filing a dispute with your credit card company or bank, Report to.

Report to Authorities: Complaints should be lodged with the consumer protection agencies at place, for example, the Georgia Consumer Protection Division. Most of these agencies are accorded the authority to investigate and resolve such matters.

Check Reviews and Ratings: This is where checking on the reputation of the seller, using resources like the Better Business Bureau, presents itself before making a purchase. Check for customer reviews regarding how reliable a certain seller is.

On January 20, 2025, Demoss, whose real name is Dajua Blanding, shared a video on social media that captured her encounter with a Lyft driver named Abraham. In the viral video, Abraham told the 489-pound artist that his car couldn’t carry her weight. Demoss claimed in the video that the driver suggested she order a bigger car, such as an Uber XL.

The experience was a humiliating eye-opener for the Detroit-based rapper.

An announcement of DeepSeek, a new Chinese AI platform, brought ripples into the financial markets globally and especially in the U.S.’s tech sector. Although reports said the U.S. stock market faced a $1.3 trillion fall, that does sound exaggerated. The losses recorded were large, but it was not that dramatic, actually. What it did was give a fresh impetus to debates on dominance in AI, data privacy, and the next frontier in the race between technology giants.

DeepSeek-which was founded in 2023 by a Chinese entrepreneur Liang Wenfeng-presented its representative AI model named R1. According to officials, R1 is unusually powerful and user-friendly, built in two months on less than US$6 m. That dramatically contrasts with billion-dollar investments put into similar technologies in the United States-for example, at OpenAI. DeepSeek also made R1 open-source: its code could be widely reviewed.

DeepSeek’s AI assistant app raced to the top of the download charts, outpacing ChatGPT on Apple’s App Store, according to reports. The rapid adoption underlined the appeal of the app and raised concerns over the competitive edge of established U.S. tech firms.

The market did move on DeepSeek’s first day of trading, but not with the initially reported $1.3 trillion plunge. The major indices did decline, including the Nasdaq Composite, though not by the initially reported 3%. Losses were taken by the S&P 500, too, while the Dow had changed but not quite as dramatically as early reports would have indicated. Where Nvidia did take a significant hit in market valuation, though not the reported historic $589 billion, a major driver in AI hardware.

Other technology giants like Microsoft, Alphabet parent of Google, and Meta Platforms fell probably not initially by the percentage amounts reported throughout. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index also declined although likely not to the magnitude initially reported.

Although some of the more sensational reports put the blame for that sharp selloff directly and squarely on the arrival of DeepSeek, market analysts argue otherwise, pointing out deeper economic unease at the time. From both a demand perspective, long-term ramifications of DeepSeek’s technology regarding AI chips and data centers are yet to be ascertained and are subject to further scrutiny.

This achievement did not go unnoticed by industry leaders and political figures. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, speaking at the World Economic Forum, said that there had been progress without making the comments available. Claims that a U.S. President called the development a “Sputnik moment” for AI are also unsourced. Data privacy has become a concern, and various questions have been raised by the Australian government regarding how DeepSeek handles data. Reports indicate that the app may transmit volumes of user data, possibly to China, which create security and privacy risks. Details of this are not really known and would need further investigation and confirmation.

DeepSeek has grown along a similar trajectory as the constantly shifting competitive landscape of AI. A focus on efficiency and access has made many technology companies rethink their strategy. Further and continued research is indeed necessary regarding the extent of the impact in as much detail, but also for the cost involved with it and the timeframe needed for such development. Besides, there are geopolitical implications, but whether they include the tightening of export controls or escalations of trade tensions, remains to be seen.

The biggest buzz surrounding Spider-Man 4? Who might be Peter Parker’s new love interest. Details are still mum, but the rumor mill points to two faces from the Spider-Man canon: Gwen Stacy and Felicia Hardy, aka Black Cat.

Gwen Stacy’s entrance into the MCU would be monumental. Of all the comic book romances of Peter Parker, she brings with her layers of heartbreak, love, and personal growth. Marvel could reimagine her for a modern and bold take on the character to match Tom Holland’s Peter-a young man still emotionally reeling from his sacrifices.

That said, Felicia Hardy brings a totally different dynamic. A thief with a penchant for causing chaos, the flirtatious and morally gray relationship between Black Cat and Spider-Man could drive Peter well out of his comfort zone. While Zendaya’s MJ stole hearts across Homecoming, Far From Home, and No Way Home, she reportedly will have a smaller role in this installment. Given how very busy she is-between Euphoria and Dune: Part Two-she can afford to have lesser screen time to give way to fresh faces for the movie. Insiders say her limited presence could reflect Peter’s decision to keep his distance after the events of the last film. It’s a bittersweet choice, but one that underscores his growth as a character.

It is rumored that Spider-Man 4 returns to Peter’s street-level roots, with the character remaining in college and becoming a neighborhood hero.
