After achieving chart-topping success in Australia, Sony recording artist Lara D prepares for a North American take over with the release of her U.S. debut, titled “Bad Case of Loving You.” In the song — also accompanied by a music video — the emerging artist tells a rollercoaster road trip love story that teaches a valuable lesson about self-love. Lara D breaks down the music video directed by Alex Greaves, saying it’s about getting caught in toxic love and the rollercoaster of feelings that follow when you question someone’s sincerity. She points out that sometimes we end up with people who don’t treat us well or break their promises. The song isn’t about heartbreak; it’s more about justified disappointment when someone turns out to be just as you expected.
The song was produced and co-written by David Musumeci and Anthony Egizii of DNA Songs. It’s the song’s smooth and catchy production that caught Lara D’s ear, instantly. “I was experimenting with vocal ideas and stumbled upon a catchy rhythm for the chorus. Everyone’s reaction was really positive, and they instantly recognized it as the key hook. It’s amusing because I came up with it almost instinctively,” she explains.
Outside the music, Lara D is best known for her performance during Australia’s version of The Voice. Lara D signed with Sony Entertainment in 2021 and is currently working on the forthcoming release of her debut album, as-yet-titled, coming soon. Lara D’s sound exhibits an old soul because of its natural delivery and wisdom.
