Offset said in an August 15, 2025 interview to Ebro Darden. The statement, cut and posted on X, Instagram, and TikTok, has been presented in some of the posts as the cause of the end of his marriage to Cardi B. In reality, records reveal the breakup had begun: Cardi B had initiated a divorce suit in July 2024 almost a year before the interview after months of arguments and years of on-again, off-again drama.
Offset (Kiari Cephus) and Cardi B (Belcalis Almánzar) married in 2017 after a whirlwind romance. Public affection, musical collaborations, and red carpet appearances were matched by public arguments, allegations of infidelity, and a 2020 divorce filing that was later withdrawn.
By mid-2024, tensions resurfaced. Cardi B’s July 2024 divorce petition, filed in Georgia, cited “irreconcilable differences.” Court documents confirm it was her second filing in four years.

However, legal filings tell a longer story. In May 2025, TMZ reported Offset had filed an amended response seeking spousal support money one ex-spouse may be required to pay the other and joint custody of their three children.
Cardi B had already signaled the relationship was over months earlier. In December 2024, she told fans on Instagram Live:
“I’ve been single for a minute now. I just didn’t know how to tell the world.”
Her tone turned sharper in May 2025 during an X Spaces rant, when she accused Offset of neglecting the children despite daily calls. She has also said publicly:
“I regret you… I’m too good for you.”
Since filing, Cardi has focused on career moves, parenting, and high-profile appearances. She has not directly responded to the August interview clips.
