TIBOOBURRA, Australia. A prospector who asked to keep his name out of the papers nearly walked past the find of a lifetime in mid-October. His metal detector chirped faintly on Mount Stuart station near Tibooburra, in the far northwestern corner of New South Wales, and roughly 100 millimeters down the machine began squealing. Out of the red dirt came a 1,218-gram, quartz-flecked nugget he nicknamed the Tibooburra Spud. Testing indicated about 940 grams of it is pure gold, worth an estimated $150,000 to $160,000 at spot price, with a collector sale possibly reaching $200,000, ABC News reported Monday. The signal...

Squirrels in London and Philadelphia keep turning up on camera clutching discarded vapes, and the clips look exactly like the animals are smoking. Wildlife specialists tracking the footage say the rodents are not chasing nicotine. They are chasing fruit. The videos made the rounds again this week after Complex reposted compilations on X. A separate clip from a...

Italian pen company Montegrappa and Automobili Lamborghini have teamed up on something that only exists because someone, somewhere, asked the question: what if the most famous headlights in car history also lived on a fountain pen? The fountain pen version runs €8,250 — about $9,250 — and the whole point of it is the tiny rock-crystal headlight built into the cap. Press a button and it tilts up, just like the...

Turns out that quiet moment when your cat decides your lap is the only place worth might be doing more for both of you than you realized. A new study from Kyoto University found that the more time people spend physically close to their cats, the better their mood tends to get — and the cats are picking up on it too. Researchers tracked owners and their pets for a full month and discovered a real hormonal connection running both ways. https://twitter.com/pubity/status/2111351503935914048?s=20 The paper, published this week in the journal iScience, looked at 19 cat owners and 29 cats living their regular...
