Desiigner makes a comeback with his latest single, “SURVIVOR,” a captivating and street-inspired anthem that radiates hope and positivity in the face of the current global landscape.
Produced by The Abandoned, “SURVIVOR” reflects Desiigner’s artistic response to the rapid changes happening around us.
The visual, directed by Bobby Misner and Desiigner and produced by Zana Ray, showcases a “new normal, ” as Desiigner navigates barren streets, continuous news footage and empty store shelves. Ultimately, he lands at an urgent care facility where a routine medical appointment has now become a laborious process.
All the while, Desiigner takes us on this journey of unchartered territory, as he reflects on these unprecedented times, while simultaneously providing a message of hope:
“Survivor through the day
We gon’ survive this, on the gang (Gang)
I ain’t worried ’bout a thing
Baby, I ain’t worried ’bout a thing (No, no)
I’ve been through fire, fire, flame
Now I’m icy, Krispy Kreme (Ice)
I ain’t worried ’bout a thing
Baby, I ain’t worried ’bout a thing”
Brooklyn born Desiigner is no stranger to difficult life circumstances. He survived a shooting at the age of 14 only to go on to a successful music career, with his debut single “Panda” reaching number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
In “SURVIVOR,” Desiigner channels his past strife and triumphs, bridging the two with a symbolic mindset of hope, positivity and overcoming previous obstacles.
“SURVIVOR” is the follow up to “DIVA,” released in the fall of 2019. A portion of proceeds from “SURVIVOR” will be allocated towards a Coronavirus Relief Fund.
