NBA MVP Race Is Heating Up

When the season nears its end, the NBA MVP race heats up. This year we’ve seen some standout ball. Some of the leading candidates include: Stephen Curry (Warriors), Nikola Jokic (Nuggets), Bradley Beal (Wizards), and Chris Paul (Suns).

We’ve seen Steph go on one of the more notable runs in the history of shooting. He’s been hitting threes like never before and has put up ridiculous numbers.

Tim Connely, president of basketball operations for the Denver Nuggets, said this about Nikola Jokic. “I’m not objective certainly, but he’s having a historical year. I’ve never seen a more difficult player to guard. He’s the top passer in the NBA. He excels at shooting threes with great consistency. He’s got fifteen moves in the post. You never know what he’s going to pull out.”

Future Hall-of-Famer Chris Paul is also getting chatter in the NBA MVP race. He’s brought massive value to Phoenix with his leadership and tenacity. The Suns have improved so much in recent memory and their record shows it (44-18). They are currently in second place in the west behind the Utah Jazz (45-17).

Bradley Beal is averaging 31.3 PPG alongside my boy Russel Westbrook in Washington. While Westbrook is dishing around 11 dimes a game, Beal’s performance this season has garnered attention in the MVP race conversation. The Wizards are hovering around the 10 spot in the east with no real guarantee into the playoffs, but the play by these two has been nothing but praiseworthy.

There’s also recurring talk of KD and LeBron getting into the mix.
