Two juveniles were arrested Wednesday morning after riding a dirt bike through the Coastal Grand Mall in Myrtle Beach, crashing into a kiosk, and fleeing on foot.
Officers responded to reports of a dirt bike inside the mall at approximately 10:54 a.m., according to the Myrtle Beach Police Department. The two riders, both wearing helmets, moved through the interior walkways before striking a freestanding kiosk. They abandoned the bike and a dropped cell phone before running. A bystander in a blue shirt attempted to intervene as the juveniles dismounted and fled.
Video footage shows the two helmeted riders on a small green and black dirt bike traveling through a mall corridor before the crash. The bike was left on the floor after the juveniles ran. Officers took them into custody shortly after the incident. Police recovered the dirt bike and the dropped phone at the scene. No injuries were reported to the riders, the bystander, or anyone else in the area.
The incident occurred in a public section of the mall while other shoppers were present. The juveniles remain in custody as the investigation continues. Because they are minors, their names and ages have not been released. Police have not yet announced possible charges. The Myrtle Beach Police Department confirmed the arrests and said the dirt bike was recovered at the scene.
