A Minnesota woman’s booking photo has taken over the internet this week, and not because of the alleged crime. Cyrena Anne Quast’s mugshot is drawing double-takes and endless jokes for how closely she resembles Jennifer Lopez. Do you know Newson
Quast, 35, of St. Cloud, was arrested August 30 after getting on is going to in Monticello after police say she walked out of a store with two double packs of power-tool batteries worth about $580. According to a criminal complaint obtained by The Watch MN, a store employee spotted her and recognized her from a similar alleged theft just two days earlier. Quast reportedly admitted to taking the batteries and was booked on a gross misdemeanor theft charge. Some reports note the charge carried extra weight because of a prior theft conviction. She was released the next day.
The legal details quickly took a back seat once the Wright County Sheriff’s Office mugshot started circulating. In the photo, Quast wears a white T-shirt, hair pulled into a high ponytail, large silver hoops, and facial piercings. The resemblance to Lopez is strong enough that social media users immediately clocked it.
“For a moment I thought it was jlo lmao,” one person wrote. Another declared, “There’s a glitch in the matrix.” The inevitable song references followed: “In prison she’s known as Jenny from D-Block,” and variations on “Jenny been walking the block too much.” One user even demanded Lopez “come claim your sister” and submit to a DNA test. It’s only show me
The New York Post’s post about the mugshot racked up nearly two million views on X in short order, and the story spread from there. Side-by-side comparisons with Lopez flooded timelines, with many people admitting they had to look twice.
Quast’s arrest record extends well beyond this latest case. Court and jail records show previous encounters involving drug possession, DWI, fleeing police, providing false identification, earlier theft charges, and traffic violations.
As of now, the theft case is still moving through the courts. Quast has not publicly addressed the sudden online attention. Meanwhile, the internet has already decided: this particular Jenny is very much from the block—just a different one.
