Millie Bobby Brown Joins the MCU? Rumors Swirl About Marvel Casting

Fans have wondered for years if Millie Bobby Brown will be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The teen star, best known for Eleven from the popular series Stranger Things on Netflix, has continued to branch out in Hollywood, fueling the rumors about a possible role in the MCU. Are the rumors fact, though? As of March 2025, there has been no announcement about Brown joining the MCU. Let’s take a look back at where the rumors started, Brown’s own words, and the future.

Speculation about Millie Bobby Brown joining the Marvel universe was making the rounds back in 2019 when there was word that she was in negotiations to be part of The Eternals. The Variety publication included Brown’s name along with other actors likely to be featured in the film in a low-key announcement that generated widespread excitement from the fandom and the media. IMDb and other publications heard about the report, further fueling the rumors.

The Eternals was one of the most anticipated films from Marvel during that time, having a star-studded cast that included Angelina Jolie, Kumail Nanjiani, Richard Madden, and Salma Hayek. With Brown’s increasing Hollywood reputation, becoming part of the MCU was within the cards. However, despite the widespread speculations, there was no word from Marvel Studios about joining the project.

After the rumour, Brown made a social media appearance in 2019 to clarify the situation. During an Instagram live session, she spoke bluntly about the rumour that she was to be featured in a Marvel movie. “OK, guys, this is the problem. People think that I will be in a Marvel movie. Not that I know. My family does not know. We don’t know. So, let me let the people know that I am not. currently,” she said.

This refusal, however definite, left the door open to continued rumour. Some of her supporters viewed the words as a ploy to neither confirm nor rule out future involvement. Brown has continued to indicate that she is highly selective about the part she will play and that she’d only take something that really resonated. While she has indicated that she has met with big studios such as Marvel and DC, there has been no word regarding the casting.

Jean Grey (X-Men) – With Brown having already played a telekinetic character in Stranger Things, she would be a perfect fit to take the role of the MCU’s Jean Grey.

Kitty Pryde (X-Men) – Another character that the fans think Brown would be doing well is the X-Men character that possesses the ability to phase through objects.

Rogue (X-Men) – As the X-Men are to be introduced to the MCU soon, some think Brown might play the role of Rogue, a character famous for having super strength along with the capability to take away the powers of other people.

Abigail Brand – Another off-the-radar but compelling Marvel character, Abigail Brand is the head of the organization S.W.O.R.M., which handles otherworldly threats. This role would allow Brown to expand to the sci-fi action arena.

Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew) – With the growing interest in the multiverse and female-centered superhero storytelling, there has also been some rumour that Brown will take over the character of Jessica Drew, Spider-Woman.

Presently, Brown has his gaze directed toward authenticated projects like The Electric State, directed by the Russo brothers, Joe and Anthony, renowned for the creation of the movie Avengers: Endgame. Brown plays the role of Michelle, a young woman raised during a future where there are conscious robots. The movie that will be released on 14th March 2025 has added fuel to the argument about Brown’s relationship to the filmmakers under the Marvel brand.
