Miley Cyrus makes headlines for skipping the 2023 Met Gala! It’s been a while since Cyrus attended the annual fashion event, so it’s no surprise that she skipped Monday night’s “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line in Beauty” Met Gala. But despite all the press surrounding her absence, she hasn’t offered any reason for her decision to skip the big party. The inside story.
Cyrus has been busy filming Only Murders in the Building, which means that she probably needs to take a little break from public appearances.

Zendaya, Selena Gomez and Harry Styles also opted out of the party because they were busy with other projects. That includes Challengers, Dune: Part Two and Euphoria all in the works.
Taylor Swift has been spotted around New York City and Los Angeles lately, but she also just wrapped filming on Joker: Folie a Deux in London. So it’s likely that she won’t be heading to the Met Gala anytime soon either.
Why Cyrus Is Back in Malibu
She sold her Nashville estate last summer for $15 million and is now reportedly living in Malibu. However, records reveal that the star’s wrecking ball has swung her back into the seaside town she once called home. And in her most recent move, she’s made a fresh residential start in a groovy pad that boasts an impressive ocean view.
This colorful house is designed by her mother, Tish Cyrus, who has been her manager for 16 years. She enlisted the help of interior designer Mat Sanders to create an edgy, rocker-inspired space that’s definitely “Miley” at heart.
The house’s decor is a mix of classic and contemporary, with an emphasis on the “more is more” philosophy. There’s a mouth-shaped chair that wiggles its tongue, a psychedelic ceiling and even an Ashley O wig from Black Mirror!

There’s also a lot of artwork, including a series of framed notes from the likes of RuPaul and Vera Wang. And while the mouth-shaped chair isn’t visible in the image, it looks pretty cool in real life, too.
Her new home in Malibu is an eclectic assemblage of colors and textures. It’s a place where she can be herself, but also a spot where she can entertain.
Aside from her new Malibu abode, Cyrus has another California home she’s keeping in her family. Previously, she owned a palatial mansion in guard-gated Hidden Hills that she bought more than a decade ago.
She’s also got a groovy home in Malibu that she bought last year for $10 million. This property sits on a bluff and has gorgeous views of the beach.
On top of her presence on the big screen her music career is nothing less than legendary. She’s released four albums so far, including the number-one hit “We Can’t Stop” and the equally bouncy “Wrecking Ball.” This past year, she teamed up with MAC Cosmetics to donate $10 million to 250 healthcare organizations affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
