Microsoft completed their Xbox E3 showcase. During the E3 showcase, the company announced some exciting games, mostly, first person shooters that players are accustomed to. Here’s the top 4 releases announced by Microsoft for Xbox in 2021: Halo Infinite, Starfield, Battfield 2042, and Rainbow Six: Extraction.

Halo Infinite

About: 

First up in the top 4 games in Microsoft’s Xbox E3 Showcase. Halo Infinite is the sixth in the halo series and like it’s predecessors is a first-person shooter. The story picks up the story of the Master Chief, following Guardians. According to Microsoft, the story of Halo Infinite will be more focused on humanity, with the Master Chief playing a bigger role compared to Halo 5: Guardians.

Additionally, the Halo Infinite’s multiplayer portion would be released as a free-to-play game. In this mode, there is an increased focus on character customization. Below, players can get an overview of this mode along with a preview of multiplayer maps.

Release Date: TBD, Holiday Season

Starfield

About:

Second up from top 4 games in Microsoft’s Xbox E3 Showcase is Starfield. According to Microsoft, Starfield is Bethesda Game Studios’ first new universe in 25 years, following their previous creations like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4. This upcoming RPG is set in space and offers players the ability to create any character and explore with incredible freedom. Powered by next-gen technology and built on the new Creation Engine 2, Starfield takes players on an epic journey through space to uncover humanity’s greatest mystery.

Starfield is an exclusive game to Xbox. This has caused a bit of a frenzy with Playstation players wanting to have access to the title to which Bethesda applogizes to fans about exclusivity with Xbox and PC but says in the end it was the best platform for their game.

Release date: November 11

Battlefield 2042

About:

Third up in top 4 games in Microsoft’s Xbox E3 Showcase is Battlefield 2042,  a multiplayer-focused first-person shooter. In 2040, climate change wreaks havoc, leading to a catastrophic event known as Kessler syndrome. 70% of satellites crash to Earth, causing a global blackout. This triggers escalating tensions between the United States and Russia, eventually resulting in war in 2042.

Battlefield 2042 offers an immersive gaming experience with advanced weaponry, gadgets, and vehicles. Players can deploy turrets, drones, and even request vehicle air-drops to any location. The game also introduces a convenient “Plus” system for on-the-spot weapon customization. The class system has been revamped to include Assault, Engineer, Medic, and Recon.

Gameplay: Three Modes

Battlefield 2042 has three main gameplay modes. First,  “All-Out Warfare.”Secondly, “Breakthrough,” one team must try to capture another team’s control points, while another team must defend them.Thirdly, “Conquest”, two teams combat against each other in order to capture control points. Once control points in a sector are captured, the team will control said sector.

Rainbow Six Extraction

About:

The final game in the top 4 games in Microsoft’s Xbox E3 Showcase is Rainbow Six: ExtractionThis game has crossplay and cross progression which increases player accessibility across all platforms. Gather your top Rainbow Six: Extraction Operators and embark on missions in volatile containment zones to confront a changing Alien menace. Unite and risk it all against this unfamiliar adversary.

Assemble Your Squad

Form a team in Rainbow Six: Extraction’s Co-op mode with up to three Operators or play alone. Each Operator possesses unique weapons and abilities to learn, enhance, and master through a new progression system.

Risk it All in Containment Zones

There are 12 Extraction maps for players to explore and challenges to complete that will test your ability and tactical approach in Rainbow Six: Extraction.  After completing missions, you can extract your team to get rewards or continue on and risk losing them. 

Fight the ARCHÆANS

Players will fight a lethal, unpredictable and constantly evolving Alien Threat. In Rainbow Six: Extraction, players rely on teammates to confront 10 different parasitic archetypes. These enemies, along with the alien ecosystem, will test the players’ strategies and skills.
