A blaze aboard a luxury yacht rented by renowned music producer Metro Boomin turned the early morning hours into a dramatic spectacle behind Miami’s popular Booby Trap strip club. The incident, which began just after 3 a.m., drew a crowd of stunned onlookers, disrupted nightlife in the area, and left investigators piecing together the cause of the fire.
The yacht, a 120-foot vessel named Starlight, had docked behind the Booby Trap around 3 a.m. Metro Boomin and a party of ten guests were aboard, enjoying the Miami nightlife. By 3:15 a.m., club employees noticed a plume of smoke wafting from the yacht’s upper deck.
Within minutes, flames were visible, and the guests and crew evacuated the vessel. Emergency services were called, and by 3:30 a.m., Miami-Dade Fire Rescue teams were on the scene.
Firefighters battled the inferno for over three hours. The yacht’s size and substantial fuel load made the fire difficult to contain, and by 7 a.m., the Starlight had partially submerged in the Miami River. Miraculously, no injuries were reported.
The firefighting efforts were anything but straightforward. According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Chief Alejandro Ortiz, the yacht’s size and proximity to other vessels posed a significant risk of the fire spreading.

“This was an intense operation,” Ortiz said. “The fuel on board fed the flames, making it a challenge to control. We deployed aerial units to get water onto the fire from above while ensuring the safety of our crew on the ground.”
The team’s quick response prevented the fire from extending to nearby boats and structures, but the Starlight was a total loss. Ortiz also noted that the location – behind a busy nightlife hub – added to the complexity as hundreds of onlookers gathered to watch the spectacle.
The fire’s dramatic visuals captivated patrons of the Booby Trap and passersby. Brianna Lewis, a bartender at the club, described the scene:
“One moment, we were serving drinks, and the next, people were running out to see the flames. It was surreal – like a scene from an action movie.”
Others noted the mood shifted from revelry to concern.
“People were worried about the guests on the yacht at first,” said clubgoer Marcus Grant. “Once we knew everyone was safe, it turned into a chaotic party outside, with people filming and cheering on the firefighters.”

The Booby Trap’s operations came to an abrupt halt as firefighters worked to control the blaze. Management temporarily closed the club, citing safety concerns and smoke damage. While the club reopened the following evening, the fire’s impact lingered, with some employees calling the experience unsettling.
“We’ve never had anything like this happen,” said club manager Tony Rivera. “It’s a relief no one was hurt, but it’s definitely shaken up our staff.”
The police launched an investigation into what might have been the cause of the fire, speculating on a mechanical failure to probable foul play; officials caution against speculations.

“At this point, we are examining all possibilities,” said Detective Carla Martinez of the Miami-Dade Police Department. “We are working with marine safety experts and fire investigators to determine what caused this incident.”
Metro Boomin has not commented publicly, but sources close to the producer indicated the event shook him. Meanwhile, social media has buzzed with theories and memes, adding an air of mystery to the story.
While the fire aboard the Starlight left a luxury yacht in ruins, it also highlighted the resilience of Miami’s first responders and the community’s ability to find moments of levity amid chaos. As investigators work to uncover the cause, the event serves as a fiery reminder of the unpredictable drama that can unfold in the Magic City.
