Megan thee Stallion graduated Texas Southern University. She dedicated the honor to her late Mother. “No matter what I’m going through, I still want to keep going,” she told The FADER in May 2019. “Just to show people you can still be strong and you can still face your everyday life. Even when everything coming down on you.” Her Mother acted as Megan thee Stallions manager while she was in school, and also rapped herself with Houston collective the Screwed Up Click under the name, Holly Wood.
The rapper showed humility in balancing a full-time academic schedule with dropping albums and tours. “I try not to make me being a rapper a huge deal,” she says. “Just like I’m missing class sometimes because I have to do a show, somebody [else] missed a class because they don’t want to be there. They can’t treat either one of us no different. I just try to get all my work done and turned in as soon as I can.”
Megan thee Stallion is a student of hip-hop. She considers herself “representing” as a female rapper from the South as well as her hometown of Houston. “I feel like I have to put on for my city, because we have so many legends and so many greats, but I don’t feel like we ever really had a female rapper come from Houston or Texas and shut sh*t down. So, that’s where I’m coming from with it.”
She plans to be a job-creator in the health-industry by opening assisted living homes financed by her entertainment career and hiring her fellow graduates. Her plans to help graduates seem to have expanded, and Megan thee Stallion was recently photographed with the Secretary of Education. RollingStone reports that Megan thee Stallion has been providing funding for educational scholarships with projects like Thee Megan Fund.
