Marvel Delays ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ to December 2026, ‘Secret Wars’ to 2027

Marvel Studios has announced a significant shift in its release schedule, pushing “Avengers: Doomsday” to December 18, 2026, and “Avengers: Secret Wars” to May 7, 2027. Originally slated for May 1, 2026, “Doomsday” faced delays due to production challenges, including script refinements and coordination of its expansive cast, led by Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. Filming, which began in April 2025 at Pinewood Studios, England, continues under the direction of Anthony and Joe Russo.

The star-studded lineup includes Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, and Vanessa Kirby as Susan Storm, with X-Men characters like Patrick Stewart’s Professor X also featured. The delay allows Marvel to ensure quality for this Phase Six centerpiece, which concludes the “Multiverse Saga.” “Secret Wars,” initially planned for 2026, follows suit, giving the studio ample time to craft its ambitious multiversal narrative. Fans have expressed mixed reactions on X, with some disappointed by the wait and others optimistic about a polished final product.
