Madonna’s Vintage Outfits Go Missing After Coachella Performance with Sabrina Carpenter

Madonna is seeking the return of several historic costume pieces after archival garments worn during her surprise performance at Coachella reportedly went missing following Weekend 2 of the festival.

The pop icon made an unexpected guest appearance during Sabrina Carpenter’s headlining set on April 17 at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, marking Madonna’s first Coachella performance in 20 years. Her last appearance at the festival came in 2006 during the Confessions on a Dance Floor era.

The set was widely celebrated as a cross-generational pop culture moment, with the pair performing hits including “Vogue” and “Like a Prayer,” along with a rumored unreleased track believed to be connected to Madonna’s forthcoming Confessions II project.

Madonna’s appearance carried special significance because she wore original pieces from her personal archive, many tied directly to her 2006 Coachella performance and related promotional appearances. The lavender-and-purple themed look reportedly included a vintage Gucci-style jacket, lilac corset, lace garments, boots, gloves and accessories from the same era.

But the celebration took a sour turn after the show.

In an Instagram Stories post shared April 20, Madonna said several of the items had disappeared after the performance.

“These aren’t just clothes, they are part of my history,” she wrote, emphasizing the sentimental value of the missing garments.

According to reports, the items were packed into two bags and were last seen on a golf cart being transported across festival grounds in the early hours of April 18. They were later discovered missing after staff arrived at a hotel.

A representative for Madonna has since filed a missing property report with the Indio Police Department. Authorities reportedly believe the bags may have fallen from the vehicle during transport, and there is currently no public indication of theft or that the singer was specifically targeted.

Madonna is offering a reward for the safe return of the items and asked anyone with information to contact her team.

The disappearance of the costumes has sparked widespread reaction online, with fans noting the historical significance of the garments, which are closely associated with one of the most celebrated eras of her career.

For now, what was hailed as one of Coachella 2026’s standout moments has ended on a bittersweet note — with pieces of pop history still unaccounted for.
