Lil Nas X Breaks Silence After Arrest: ‘That Was Terrifying’

Lil Nas X, the Grammy-winning rapper known for pushing boundaries, broke his silence on August 26, 2025, addressing his shocking arrest in Los Angeles just days earlier. In a raw and candid video shared on social media, the 26-year-old artist, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, reassured fans he’s pulling through after a chaotic and frightening experience.

“Your girl is gonna be okay, y’all. Okay? She’s gonna be alright,”

he said, before admitting,

“That was f****** terrifying. That was a terrifying last four days. But your girl is gonna be alright.”

His playful tone, referencing his “Queen Madeleine” persona, contrasted with the gravity of the events, offering a glimpse into his resilience amid a turbulent week.

The incident that led to his arrest unfolded in August 21 on Ventura Boulevard in Studio City.

Reports describe Lil Nas X walking down the busy street nearly naked, wearing only underwear and white cowboy boots. Eyewitness footage captured him strutting with an orange traffic cone on his head, speaking incoherently about a “party,” and later reciting lyrics from Nicki Minaj’s verse in Kanye West’s “Monster.” His behavior escalated when he reportedly shed his remaining clothes, prompting police intervention. When officers from the Los Angeles Police Department arrived, the situation turned physical.

Authorities say Lil Nas X charged at them, allegedly punching an officer twice in the face, resulting in injuries to three officers. He was initially booked on suspicion of misdemeanor battery and obstructing an officer but was later hospitalized for a suspected drug overdose before being transferred to Valley Jail in Van Nuys.

By August 25, the charges against Lil Nas X escalated to four felony counts: three for battery with injury on a police officer and one for resisting an executive officer. During his arraignment at Los Angeles Superior Court, he pleaded not guilty.

His attorney, Christy O’Connor, called the incident an “aberration” in his otherwise remarkable life, emphasizing that no evidence of drug use had been confirmed, pending test results. The court set bail at $75,000, with the condition that he attend four Narcotics Anonymous meetings weekly, reflecting concerns about possible substance use. He was released the same day, still in his blue jail uniform, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for September 15, 2025. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison, a significant threat to his thriving career.

Lil Nas X spent the weekend in jail, where he reportedly kept a low profile. Sources say he had access to basic amenities like local TV channels, meals such as chicken and bean burritos, and activities like checkers, but he avoided engaging with others or performing. His time behind bars followed a period of personal struggles.

Earlier in 2025, he revealed on social media that he had faced partial facial paralysis in April and canceled a headlining slot at West Hollywood’s Outloud pride music festival in May due to an ongoing medical issue. These challenges, combined with his recent cryptic Instagram posts—where he wiped old content, adopted the “Queen Madeleine” persona, and shared snippets of new music—have fueled speculation about his mental health. Some fans on social platforms expressed concern, suggesting the Lil Nas X arrest may stem from a mental health crisis, while others wondered if it was a publicity stunt for his upcoming album, Dreamboy, expected later this year. If this album achieves a success similar to others, fans may be very happy.
