Kodak Black’s Baby Mother Files Emergency Custody Motion Over Missing Son

Kodak Black and his ex-girlfriend Maranda Johnson have a heated support and custody case about their minor child. Johnson filed a request for emergent custody alleging that Kodak and his mother took their son without providing notice of their whereabouts to her. She is also requesting that their two minor children have their support raised.

Kodak Black, also known as Bill K. Kapri, is the father of two with Maranda Johnson. Their tumultuous relationship was filled with public disagreements and court drama regarding co-parenting and financial support.

Johnson’s emergency request for a change of custody claims that Kodak took their son away without notice to her, leaving him with a lot of stress as he was without knowledge of his location for about three weeks. With the request to change custody comes a request by Johnson to have the support paid to their two sons increased.

Kodak Black addressed the issue on a public Instagram Live stream in response to the allegations. He called out Johnson by stating that she is “clout chasing” and that the actions are driven by financial gain rather than a need to care about their kids. Kodak made a point to say that he is involved with their kids and was offended by the public nature of the controversy.

Aside from the question of custody, Johnson is also asking to have the payment of the child support increased, explaining that two of Kodak’s children entitle her to receive greater financial support. Her lawyers claim that the current arrangement is insufficient to cater to both children.

Kodak’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, denied the allegations by stating that the rapper provides considerable financial support and that visitation is regular.

“Kodak is constantly present with his kids’ lives and looks out for their welfare,These are simply attempts to manipulate the court.”

Cohen added.

This is not the first court case that Johnson and Kodak have shared. Both within courtrooms and out of them, there have been a lot of disagreements about their affiliation.

Recently, tensions were at a peak at a birthday party of one of Kodak’s daughters, where Johnson got into a fight with another of Kodak’s baby mothers. The melee, which had the police responding to the scene, highlighted the strained relationships between the mothers of Kodak’s kids.

Further complicating the situation was the fact that Johnson had also been arrested back in June 2024 on burglary with assault or battery charges and grand theft charges stemming from a claimed assault of the mother of Kodak’s first child, Jammiah Broomfield.

Social media is filled with reactions. Supporters of Kodak Black have defended him by perceiving him as a devoted dad, while others have sympathized with Johnson’s fears. The publicized drama of the controversy has raised debate regarding co-parenting relationships and financial support within celebrity relationships.

Both parties are ready to enter a potentially lengthy custody battle as the court case progresses. Johnson hopes the court will grant her sole custody, while Kodak is battling to have the court determine that he is a qualified parent.

Legal experts indicate that the outcome will ultimately depend on evidence of Kodak’s involvement with his child. If he can provide evidence of regular involvement and financial support to the court, the court will likely favor him. If Johnson can document negligence or failure to communicate, she might be more likely to be granted adjustments to the custodial arrangement.

For now, the controversy is pending, with both camps prepared to go to war with the other regarding something they both feel is best for their child. With time, the case will produce prolonged public scrutiny, with another chapter on the controversial existence of Kodak Black.
