Killer Mike and Andre 3000 Put Their Rap Skills to the Test on New Track

Killer Mike and Andre 3000 Collab

The last time Killer Mike and Andre 3000 worked together was on OutKast’s 2003 album Monster.

Ten years later, the two Atlanta natives reunited for Michael, Killer Mike’s sixth studio LP and the first in over a decade.

The LP, which drops on Friday (June 16), features contributions from Andre, Future, and Eryn Allen Kane.

    The New Track

The sultry song evokes a moody and mystical atmosphere as the rappers rhyme with hypnotic beats and soulful guitars.

The rapping duo also shares their love for jazz with references to artists like Thelonious Monk and Duke Ellington. As a result, the song has garnered praise from music critics who have described it as “a spiritual experience.”

As fans await the project’s release, Killer Mike recently stopped by The Breakfast Club, where Charlamagne Tha God dove deeper into his longtime relationship with Andre.

Mike revealed that initially, Andre was hesitant about appearing on the record, but his hesitancy vanished after hearing the hook.

In the track’s production, James Blake and No I.D. create a meditative soundscape perfect for the two rappers to spit over.

The beats are complemented by Kane’s choral crooning and the soothing voice of Andre 3000. The result is a track that oozes Southern flavor while displaying the lyrical prowess that Mike and Andre are known for.

Throughout his guest verse, Andre demonstrates that he still has the rapping skills of an OutKast member. He shares his past experiences, including being stabbed by a fellow OutKast member, and how he’s evolved over the years.

He also mentions that he’s “not afraid of the future” as he continues to push forward with his career.
