After a month of teasing and three listening parties, Kanye West released his most anticipated album yet. This is his 10th studio album which honors his Kanye’s late mother. Donda received mixed reviews, thus dividing critics.

In a review done by Chris Willman for Variety he mentioned;“On a purely musical level, Donda is undeniably exceptional; the delay in its release has been worth the wait… it’s a collection that never overstays its welcome, seamlessly balancing between introspection and energetic beats.”

    Revolving Controversy

With the recent release and reviews, the expectation of the album varies. Kanye uses artists when their careers stall. They gain features on his projects. DaBaby and Marilyn Manson  two artists involved in cancel culture due to public outcry are part of this project.

DaBaby a rapper who was on the rise to stardom decided to make homophobic and misogynistic comments at the Rolling Loud festival. While Marilyn Manson is currently under investigation for sexual assault. But that didn’t stop West from having them on the album.

Besides having DaBaby and Manson on the album it also features artists like The Weeknd, Travis Scott, Roddy Ricch, Ty Dolla $ign, and much more.

Kanye West pointed out that Universal released the album without his knowledge. Intentionally blocked his song with DaBaby and Marilyn Manson called “Jail Pt 2”. After a dispute, DaBaby’s manager Arnold Taylor denied Kanye’s claims of not wanting to communicate or approve the song. He said it was approved “two seconds after receiving it”.

It was later added to streaming platforms.
