Love is in the air for Lil Uzi Vert, and wedding bells may not be far behind.
The former City Girls rapper is opening up about her plans to marry her longtime boyfriend, revealing in a new Cosmopolitan interview that marriage is not just a dream — it’s a promise.
“I’m not married yet, but we definitely are going to marry each other. That’s my best friend. That’s my dog. Uzi is such a cool person.”
JT, 32, told the outlet in an interview published Monday.
JT, born Jatavia Johnson, and Uzi (real name Symere Woods) have been together since 2019 — a relationship that, she says, has grown into something more profound and more substantial with each passing year.
“We just look at each other and are like, ‘Damn, we really cool. We really know each other. We really can exist and still like each other.’ It’s beyond love,” she shared.

Their love story began in a place no one would expect — a prison magazine. JT, serving time for credit card fraud, said she first noticed Uzi in a spread that featured him rocking two braids at a grocery store.
“I thought he was the coolest person ever,” she recalled. “But did I think that six years later I would be dating him? No.”

The pair officially connected later in 2019, when Uzi slid into JT’s Instagram DMs under the pretense of a musical collaboration. Their first date? A memorable one occurred while JT lived in a halfway house in Atlanta.
Since then, the two have been nearly inseparable.
Over the years, JT has spoken about how the relationship has transformed her — and provided a sense of security she had never felt before.
“It made me a much better person,”
She told PopSugar in 2022.
“I feel like I found my home with him, my safe space.”

Even now, after six years together, the spark between them is as strong as ever.
“He be wanting me to come hang with him. I’m like, ‘Boy, we live together, why do you want me to come to the studio and hang with you?’”
She said with a laugh.

While fans eagerly anticipate an engagement, JT has a clear vision for how she wants the moment to unfold — and it’s far from flashy.
“It cannot be ghetto. It cannot be nobody with no ugly outfits. It can’t be nobody standing in the way with too many phones,” she said. “It needs to be very elegant. I need to have soft glam, short nails.”
And when it happens, don’t expect to see it flood social media right away.
“I kind of don’t want it to be on Instagram after. I don’t want my engagement to be announced on The Shade Room. I don’t want that energy,” she explained. “I want it to be how Beyoncé did it — with a little video of it and the people see it years later. Let’s keep some things to ourselves.”
JT and Uzi made their romance public in 2021, and since then, both have expressed their love openly and protected their bond.
“He literally would do any and everything for me,” JT said. “He pay all the bills. I don’t pay a bill. I don’t even know what the first of the month is.”
The couple has experienced their share of ups and downs — including brief breakups — and they’ve remained committed to each other. In 2024, Uzi reaffirmed their “forever” intentions during an interview, a sentiment JT echoed in the Cosmopolitan feature.

She launches her solo career and steps into her next chapter. JT says Uzi continues to be her biggest supporter.
“He carries himself like a star,”
She said, admiring how he handles fame with grace.
“He’s helped me grow in so many ways.”
