Florida teen pleads guilty in vicious home invasion of elderly neighbor he once helped with chores.
A small little town in Florida is still trying to wrap its head around what one of its own kids has done.Jesse Stone, who was just 14 years old at the time, has just confessed to brutally attacking a 91-year-old woman who knew him well, yes, the woman who trusted him enough to let him mow her lawn and even use her iPad sometimes.
It all happened just before midnight on the 9th of June, 2024, in Reddick. Stone came home, unlocked the door, and then proceeded to pick up his iPad and start watching pornographic stuff featuring elderly people. He then proceeded directly to her bedroom. He put the pillow over her face, and she resisted. He then punched her on the head, abused her, and then sexually assaulted her. She, however, managed to lock the door behind him as he fled and then called 911 herself. She survived with serious injuries and ended up in the hospital.

Investigators got a DNA hit off her clothes within days. A neighbor’s security camera caught someone who looked just like him sprinting away right after it happened. Marion County deputies picked him up on June 17.
During questioning, he broke down and confessed said he went in, hit her, and did the sexual battery. His grandmother was brought in, and they begged him to be honest. Audio from the room later leaked out, and you can hear how devastated she was.
Prosecutors charged him as an adult with sexual battery on someone 65 or older and burglary with battery. He first said not guilty, but in November 2024 he changed his plea to guilty with no deal.
On February 7, 2025, Circuit Judge Lisa Herndon gave the now-15-year-old 25 years in state prison, plus 30 years of sex-offender probation after that, lifetime registration as a sex offender, and required anger-management classes. He got credit for the 237 days he’d already been locked up and had 30 days to appeal.
Stone had been living with his dad’s mom ever since his own mother walked out when he was five. No criminal record before this. His lawyers brought up ADHD, depression, a rough home life, and a porn problem that started way too young his dad apparently showed it to him back in fourth grade. His grandmother told the court he’d been a good kid most of his life but that his anger had been getting worse. She pleaded with the judge to send him to juvenile rehab instead of adult prison.
People on X and everywhere else lost it when the story broke. A lot of folks said 25 years was way too soft for something this savage. Some viral posts even claimed he’d killed the old woman and blamed it all on extreme porn addiction. Others argued a 14-year-old still deserved a shot at real help instead of being thrown in with grown men.
Florida lets prosecutors try kids as adults for serious violent crimes like this, and the judge wasn’t having any of the rehab talk. She called the attack “egregious” and pointed out the victim was lucky to still be alive after what he did to her.
The whole thing has people arguing again about where the line is between punishment and giving a kid a second chance. Some studies from the National Institute of Justice say sending juveniles to adult court can backfire higher chance they’ll reoffend if their mental-health stuff like untreated ADHD or trauma never gets fixed. Nobody in Reddick a town of about 500 people ever thought their peaceful streets would drag the whole country back into that same debate.
