Jay Lyriq Talks T-Pain, New Path, New Music & What’s Next

Jay Lyriq has been a force in the music industry for over a decade. He started as a songwriter and later became a prominent artist in his own right. His exceptional talent has allowed him to work with some of the industry’s biggest names and achieve multiple platinum and gold awards. You may recognize him from his collaborations with T-Pain or his appearances on shows like “Jay Leno Show,” “The Jimmy Kimmel Show,” and the 50th Grammy Awards.

Jay Lyriq has made a significant impact in the music industry. He collaborated with T-Pain on his albums “Epiphany” and “Three Ringz” and co-wrote songs like “Tallahassee Love,” “69,” “Tipsy,” and “Reality Show.” Jay Lyriq’s talent also led him to contribute to the movie “Step Up 2” with the featured song “In the Club.” He continues to work with T-Pain, co-writing the new single “UP DOWN,” and has collaborated with renowned producers and artists like Jim Johnson, Dave “Preach” Balfor, Musiq Soulchild, Usher, and more.

Jay Lyriq’s music journey extends beyond the early 2000s. He remains active in the industry, garnering a strong following of fans who eagerly anticipate new music. Jay Lyriq, an independent solo R&B artist, is seeing the rewards of his dedication. His songs “Summertime” featuring Tay Dizm and “She Different” are attracting a considerable number of views. He is currently focused on his upcoming EP and continues to collaborate with various artists.

In a recent interview, Jay Lyriq expressed gratitude for his dedicated fan base and attributed the increased interest in his music to his collaborations with T-Pain and the loyalty of long-time supporters. He acknowledges that it took time for his work to gain recognition as he was initially behind the scenes.

INTERVIEWER: Hi Jay, how are you? What are you currently promoting? It’s impressive to see your continued dedication to the music industry.

Jay Lyriq: Hey, thanks! Right now, I’m promoting my tracks “Summertime” and “She Different.” They have garnered over 20,000 and 50,000 views respectively. People are really showing interest in my music. We’re working hard on the EP and collaborating with different artists. I had a productive session in Nashville yesterday, so I’m really putting in the work.

INTERVIEWER: That’s fantastic! Why do you think your songs are resonating with listeners, and how do you maintain a strong connection with your fans?

Jay Lyriq: I believe it’s because people know about my work with T-Pain, and I have fans who have followed me since the beginning of my journey. I’ve been in the industry for a long time, and now I’m starting to receive recognition and plaques. Previously, my contributions were more behind the scenes, so many people were unaware of my work.

INTERVIEWER: You’ve been a pioneer in creating the sound we hear today, with over 18 years in the game. How do you respond to the new artists emerging?

JL: I love it. I’m really enjoying what they’re doing. It’s different and refreshing. To stay relevant in this industry, you have to adapt. Artists are sampling various influences, blending old school and new school. It’s incredibly creative, and you have to embrace the current trends. I’m a fan of it, you know? I’m grateful to still be here, experiencing it all.

INTERVIEWER: Do you still have a connection with T-Pain?

JL: Man! It’s been a couple of years since we last spoke, but we’re good. I see he’s constantly working and involved in many projects. I noticed he’s on tour right now. I wish him continued success, and I know he feels the same for me. I believe our paths will cross again someday.

INTERVIEWER: What’s next for you?

JL: I want people to vibe with me. I’m looking to join some upcoming tours this summer. I can’t reveal who I’m working with at the moment, as I don’t want to jinx it.

INTERVIEWER: Congratulations on maintaining your name and presence all these years.

JL: I appreciate that. We started this journey at 17, not knowing what was ahead. The ability to navigate through changes is crucial. Not everyone will believe in your vision, so it’s up to you to paint that picture and make them understand. Sometimes compromise is necessary, but it’s essential to stay true to yourself and your artistry. Invest in yourself and don’t worry about what others think.
