Gucci Mane Launches “Episodes” Autobiography: A Revealing New Memoir

When Radric “Gucci Mane” Davis first announced his new project in mid-2025 an autobiography titled Episodes: The Diary of a Recovering Mad Man it stood out not just as another celebrity memoir, but as an unflinching journey into the mind of one of hip-hop’s most influential figures. The memoir, due out October 14, 2025 from Simon & Schuster, will match frank revelations about mental health with the rich cultural heritage of the Atlanta rap legends.

Gucci Mane is widely hailed as a founding father of trap music, joining fellow groupers such as T.I. and Young Jeezy in codifying the 2000s sound of Southern rap. Gucci’s public life has been characterized by a series of episodes of legal difficulties, jail time, and dependency, only to be succeeded by rebirth. Gucci managed to spend time in and out again with a renewed commitment and a turnaround message.

In 2017, he authored The Autobiography of Gucci Mane, tracing his journey from street life to superstardom, with all its dirt and paradoxes. Episodes seeks to go further, dwelling less on swagger and more on internal conflict, mental suffering, and healing.

Co-written with author Kathy Iandoli, known for her work in hip-hop and cultural commentary, Episodes frames each chapter as a self-contained “episode” of Gucci’s life. In these sections, he revisits moments fans may already have heard about arrests, album drops, relationships but now with a spotlight on his mental state at the time. The book also weaves in interviews with mental health experts to help contextualize his experiences and lend insight into conditions like paranoia, depression, and addiction.

By doing so, the memoir aims to open space within hip-hop for deeper, less glamorous conversations about psychological struggle.

One of Episodes’ boldest revelations concerns the ice cream cone tattoo on Gucci’s face. He frames it as a symbolic act rooted in emotional pain and extremity a manifestation of his inner turbulence rather than a publicity stunt.

The memoir also describes an episode in which his wife, Keyshia Ka’oir, with the help of bodyguards, took him to a mental hospital during a breakdown. The promotional material cites Gucci saying that

“my six bodyguards … had to take me to a hospital.”

He additionally describes moments in which Keyshia witnessed him overdose content that the publisher synopsis says the book addresses.

Episodes isn’t just a book it’s a multimedia project. An album bearing the same name is slated to accompany the memoir, with early singles like “Voices” and “Psycho” already surfacing in promotion.

An AI-directed video by avant-garde filmmaker Harmony Korine is also in the works, melding visual experimentation with the book’s introspective tone.

A book signing is scheduled for October 15, 2025, in Atlanta a homecoming of sorts, tying together the city that shaped his music and now hosts his unguarded story.

In recent years, more hip-hop artists have named mental health as part of their narrative. Artists like Kid Cudi, Big Sean, and Megan Thee Stallion have spoken publicly about depression, anxiety, or losing friends to suicide. Gucci’s memoir enters increasingly familiar terrain but few rap autobiographies dive quite this deeply into internal collapse and repair.

From a social perspective, nearly one in five American adults suffer from a mental illness within a single year, as per the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). By bringing his own struggles into public view, Gucci may help chip away at the stigma still prevalent in communities of color.

Moreover, Episodes’ interviews with mental health professionals aim to bridge the gap between raw confession and clinical context, helping readers understand not judge what lies beneath crises.

When Episodes drops alongside its musical and visual counterparts it will likely become a touchstone for how we talk about breakdown, survival, and artistry in rap culture. For Gucci, it may be his smoothest and starkest reinvention yet.
