Grimes, AKA Claire Boucher, filed a lawsuit against her ex-husband, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk. The legal move revolves around the couple’s three children, Page Six reports. The filings, which have been sealed, appear to focus on a matter concerning their youngest son.
Grimes Sues Elon Musk Over Custody
Grimes, who also co-founded the social media platform X, and Musk separated in 2021. They have three beautiful children together. It wasn’t until last month that the public learned about their third child, a son named Techno Mechanicus, who is nicknamed Tau.
According to the documents, Grimes filed a “petition to establish a parental relationship” on September 29 in a California court. These petitions are used to identify a child’s legal parents and can serve as the basis for custody or child support orders. The musician did not request either of these in her filing, and Musk has yet to respond to the lawsuit.
The lawsuit reportedly stems from Grimes’ frustration that she has been unable to see her youngest son. In a since-deleted social media post, she accused Musk of trying to keep her away from the child.
Though the lawsuit is sealed, the docket is public, and the filing dates back to September 29. TMZ reports that it’s unclear which of the three children the lawsuit pertains to. Despite the split, Musk has remained active in business.
Though they never married, a judge would likely award Grimes some form of custody. This is because the petition outlines that she was the primary caregiver for a child. And even if he does get custody, it’s unlikely that he will take her side in a custody dispute.
That’s because he already has five children from previous relationships, including twins Griffin and Vivian and triplets Damian, Saxon, and Kai. And he is also a grandfather. So, it may be a long road ahead for Grimes and her kids.
