Gervonta Davis Arrested: Shocking Allegation of Assault Against Baby Mama

Father’s Day went black on the night of June 15, 2025, when Doral, Florida, became the scene of a violent incident. Gervonta “Tank” Davis, the 30-year-old WBA lightweight champion, went to his ex-girlfriend’s residence to deliver custody of the couple’s three children. Everything remained normal as always initially. In a police report, a verbal confrontation came to a boiling point when Davis, seemingly upset, told the mother of his children to remove them from his car. As she leaned forward, reaching into the backseat, Davis is alleged to have struck her in the back of the head, slapping her in the face, cutting her lip, and throwing a miniature box at her. The woman, shaken, texted her mother for assistance, who witnessed the incident and videoed part of it, capturing the actions of Davis.

Approximately a month afterwards, a license plate camera picked up his vehicle and resulted in the detention of Davis on July 11, 2025, in Miami Beach. He was booked at the Doral Police Department at 3:35 a.m. and now has a battery-domestic violence charge. Held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without bond, Davis reportedly refused to sign a Miranda warning form. His social media accounts, once active with bold denials like

“I NEVER PUT MY HANDS ON MY CHILD MOTHER NOR MY F ING DAUGHTER”

from a 2022 incident, have gone silent since the arrest.

This isn’t Davis’s first brush with the law. In 2020, he was arrested for allegedly grabbing his ex by the throat at a charity basketball game in Miami. That case was discharged. Later that year, a hit-and-run in Baltimore left four people, including a pregnant woman, injured. Davis pleaded guilty in 2023, serving 90 days of house arrest and 44 days in jail after violating terms. In December 2022, another domestic violence arrest followed an alleged slap to the same ex-girlfriend, but charges were dropped after she recanted, stating,

“Gervonta did not harm me or our daughter.”

Davis completed his parent-related and anger management courses, which was satisfactory to prosecutors. Those continuing charges, some unasculated, hovered long over his career.

Davis, sporting an immaculate 30-0-1 record and 28 knockouts, is a giant in the ring. His WBA lightweight title, which became his property since 2023, and a scheduled rematch against Lamont Roach Jr. for August 16, 2025, Las Vegas, have made him a star. But this arrest throws his future into doubt. Neither the World Boxing Association nor promoters have commented, leaving fans and analysts speculating about whether the fight will proceed. The 2023 Ryan Garcia bout, which drew 1.2 million pay-per-view buys, showed Davis’s drawing power now at risk.

Social media is abuzz, with some fans skeptical due to past recantations, while others demand accountability, pointing to a pattern of allegations.

“Another charge, same story,”

one X post read, echoing frustration.

Domestic violence remains a pressing issue 1 in 4 women globally face severe intimate partner violence, per the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Davis’s case fuels ongoing debates about athletes’ responsibility in combat sports.
