Florida Man Pulls Millions in Cash from Ocean, Immediately Calls Police

This scene takes place during an afternoon in Fort Lauderdale Beach where the sun is shining, waves are breaking, and a man wearing red floral board shorts without a shirt struggles to pull a very heavy, seaweed-infested rectangular object from the ocean.

In the shaky video, which lasts for 20 seconds, one can see him trying to get the wet object to land on the sand with the help of the crowd that’s there to watch. In addition, beach chairs, trees, and even a red car are visible in the background.

Social media editors went to work immediately split-screening the footage with images of black bags stuffed with stacks of hundred-dollar bills. The text overlay basically screamed

“Millions of dollars just washed up on Fort Lauderdale Beach.”

Accounts like Daily Loud and a bunch of other viral pages ran with it hard, calling it peak Florida Man. One caption said something like:

“Florida man finds millions in cash floating near the beach, drags it ashore, and actually calls the police.”

The video, set to that money/Santeria-type beat, blew up fast millions of views across X, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts in just a couple days.

The reactions were all over the place. Some people called him a hero:

“Props to him for doing the right thing.”

Others clowned him mercilessly:

“Bro found life-changing money and called the cops? I’d still be running.”

A lot of folks immediately started joking that it was “square grouper” that old Florida term for weed bales that wash up from smuggling runs.

It’s classic Florida chaos. Mysterious package, beach setting, possible crime vibes, honest citizen vs. “are you stupid?” debate. And yeah, legally you’re supposed to report found property under Florida law. Keeping something like that without saying anything can land you in hot water.

Of course, it’s worth noting that nobody’s actually confirmed what was in the bundle yet. The internet filled in the blanks with “millions in cash” because that’s way more fun than “probably just some random junk.” That’s how these stories spread half facts, half hype, pure entertainment.

Either way, the guy played it safe and called the authorities. Smart move, probably.

So… what would you have done if you dragged that thing out of the water?
