Texas rapper Erica Banks won over social media with her viral hit “Buss It.” The song samples Nelly’s 2002 hit “Hot In Here”, which explains the track’s “twerk-inducing” description. During an interview with NYLON, Banks revealed, “The Nelly sampled beat caught my attention, so I choose that track and decided to write to it.”
Initially, Banks featured the song her 2020 mixtape. Soon after, the song amassed millions of views on TikTok. Eventually, the viral hit led to the creation of the new #BussItChallenge on TikTok that aired on New Years Day. While talking with NYLON, the rapper expressed her deep gratitude for TikTok and the fans.

Rapper Erica Banks effortlessly succeeded at winning over pretty much all of social media. Additionally, the Dallas rapper scored a major record deal with Warner Records. Now she’s an official artist. With a record label backing her up, we’re sure to hear plenty from Erica Banks in the coming years. The Dallas native is certainly ready to produce new music. She even plans to do a remix of her “Buss It” song.
During a virtual interview with The Shade Room, that rapper expressed interest in collaborating with Megan Thee Stallion. However, she described the whole ordeal as being “just business.” When asked about her dream collab, though, she immediately gushed about Nicki Minaj. Banks hopes that the “Super Bass” rapper will agree to do the “Buss It” remix. With already so many doors opening for Erica Banks, we’re sure Nicki Minaj will say yes.
