Ed Sheeran’s Private Chapel: His Final Resting Place

Ed Sheeran’s Suffolk estate is already jaw-dropping. It has its own recording studio, a treehouse, and its very own pub. It looks like the star will soon be adding a whole new level to the property.

Ed Sheeran’s Private Chapel Turns Heads

It’s considered a multi-faith space that will host key life and family milestones. It can also house social gatherings, marriages, and christenings. But who may one day be buried inside the religious building?

Top-secret work currently takes place at the site where the chapel will be. They have scaffolding and a tarpaulin covering the area so that nobody will get a sneak peek of the project. The chapel isn’t the only impressive feature of Sheeran’s sprawling property.

He calls the location Sheeranville. The singer also added a football pitch, a kitchen garden, an orchard, and a wildflower meadow. He also adds a paddock for chickens, goats, and sheep to his estate.

As if that wasn’t enough, he added an artificial river and waterfall in the back garden to water his flora and fauna. But his plans for a chapel, which includes a burial chamber, have most people talking. Sheeran reportedly built the space after suffering through challenging moments in his life.

Including his wife’s tumor diagnosis and the death of his best friend, Jamal Edwards, at age 31. The 4-time Grammy winner explains that the chapel will help him remember those who have passed on. During the planning process for the chapel, some locals objected to the structure.

They felt there were enough churches in the area, but Sheeran refused to let that deter him. He revised the plans and eventually got permission for a non-denominational church with a 9ft by 6ft burial crypt that was large enough to hold two bodies. A 7ft tower lightning rod to safely dissipate electrical charges also received the green light.

Sheeran did not say who would be there, but it could include family members or close friends. Some people choose to scatter their loved one’s ashes in rivers and lakes, while others spread them in forests or fields. But for many, a private memorial is a way to stay connected to their deceased loved ones and visit them whenever they want.
